Put ‘Em Up Times Six
Today I thought we could take a look at Six of the All-Time Best Movie Fights. First, some parameters… let’s limit the fights to people [no King Kong vs T-Rex], let’s limit the special effects [no Neo vs Agent Smith], and let’s try to limit the weapons.
Okay… here are my six…
6. L.T. Bonham [Tommy Lee Jones] and Aaron Hallam [Benecio Del Toro] in The Hunted. [This fight would have rated higher, but they didn’t limit the weapons.] ; )
5. Nada [Roddy Piper] vs. Frank [David Keith] in They Live
4. Chaney [Charles Bronson] vs. Jim Henry [Robert Tessier] in Hard Times
3. A Number 1[Lee Marvin] vs. Shack [Ernest Borgnine] from Emperor of the North
2. Rocky Balboa [Sylvester Stallone] vs. any opponent in Rocky – Rocky Balboa
1. Lee [Bruce Lee] vs. everyone from Enter the Dragon
So what did I forget?
Snake Plisskin vs. Ox Baker in Escape from New York. While not an awesome fight, it is very memorable to me.
The Roddy Piper fight from They Live is an excellent choice!
Chad: Yeah, Snake vs Ox was memorable… good choice. Maybe I should have added Billy Jack vs all those folks in the town square??
Yes.
Steven Seagal vs. Tommy Lee Jones’ knife fight from Under Seige. I think you should expand the list. 🙂
Yeah, we really should have Seagal vs TLJ in there…
What about Martin Riggs [Mel Gibson] vs Mr. Joshua [Gary Busey] from Lethal Weapon?
How could you not?
Some other contenders:
James Bond (Sean Connery) vs. Red Grant (Robert Shaw) on the Orient Express in From Russia With Love.
J.J. McQuade (Chuck Norris) vs. Rawley Wilkes (David Carradine) in the climactic fight of Lone Wolf McQuade.
Beatrix Kiddo (Uma Thurman) and Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah) in Bud’s trailer in Kill Bill Vol. 2.
Sean Thornton (John Wayne) vs. Red Danaher (Victor McLaglen) in The Quiet Man.
Frank Dux (Jean Claude Van Damme) vs. Chong Li (Bolo Yeung) in Bloodsport.
Chen Zhen (Jet Li) vs. General Fujita (Billy Chau) in Fist of Legend.
Jackie Chan vs. Benny Urquidez in Wheels on Meals. No comedy, just friggin’ brutal.
Great additions, Chris!
Imagine if number six and number two were teamed up for the new RAMBO… 🙂
