{"id":10017,"date":"2014-04-29T18:00:28","date_gmt":"2014-04-29T22:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=10017"},"modified":"2021-03-06T12:21:57","modified_gmt":"2021-03-06T16:21:57","slug":"z-view-brick-mansions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=10017","title":{"rendered":"Z-View: &#8220;Brick Mansions&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2014\/z042914zview_brickmansions_poster.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"723\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pitch<\/span>:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201dHey, let&#8217;s do an Americanized remake of the cult classic action film <em><strong>District B13<\/strong><\/em>!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s do it!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tagline<\/span>:<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8220;Their Streets. \u00a0Their Rules.<span style=\"color: #333333;\">&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Overview<\/span>:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0<strong>*** Beware \u2013 \u00a0spoilers are found below ***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The year is 2018. \u00a0Because of out of control crime [think <em><strong>The Purge<\/strong><\/em> on a daily basis], a part of Detroit called <strong>Brick Mansions<\/strong> has been walled off from the rest of the city with military police guarding the few exits in or out [think <em><strong>Escape from New York<\/strong> <\/em>with two <strong>Snake Plisskens<\/strong>].<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Paul Walker<\/strong> [the first <strong>Snake Plissken<\/strong>] is an undercover cop whose dad was killed in <strong>Brick Mansions<\/strong>. \u00a0<strong>David Belle<\/strong> is an ex-con [and the second <strong>Snake Plissken<\/strong>] who lives in <strong>Brick Mansions<\/strong> and works against the crime lord [played by <strong>Rza<\/strong>].<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Walker<\/strong> and <strong>Belle<\/strong> find themselves as unlikely partners when a stolen neutron bomb is hijacked, armed and aimed at a US city.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Good<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Brick Mansions<\/strong><\/em> begins with a great extended action-scene with <strong>Belle<\/strong> doing his parkour!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cast: <b>Paul Walker<\/b>\u00a0[in his final completed role], <strong>David Belle<\/strong> [should be making more American movies], <strong>RZA<\/strong>,<strong> Ayisha Issa<\/strong>, <strong>Carlo <\/strong><em>[24]<\/em><strong> Rota<\/strong>, \u00a0<span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Andreas<\/strong> <em>[Riddick<\/em>] <strong>Apergis<\/strong>, and \u00a0<strong>Robert<\/strong> <em>[300, Sherlock Holmes]<\/em> <strong>Maillet<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Every scene with <strong>Belle<\/strong> doing parkour is fun.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Ayisha Carlo <\/b>and<b> Robert Mailet <\/b>were especially well cast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bad<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-align: justify;\">The aim of almost everyone with a weapon.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ayisha Carlo<\/strong> and <strong>Robert Mailet<\/strong> .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Characterization and rationale thought are left with the coming attractions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Making <strong>RZA<\/strong> a &#8220;good guy&#8221; at the end. \u00a0<strong>Rza<\/strong> played an interesting bad guy, but let&#8217;s not lose sight that he was a really bad guy, a drug king pin who killed people without a second thought. \u00a0Yeah, he make a great mayor!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cartoon violence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Ugly:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How <strong>Belle<\/strong> deals with crooked cops. \u00a0How <strong>Walker<\/strong> deals with giants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rating: 3 out of 5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2014\/z042914zview_brickmansions_photo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pitch:\u00a0\u201dHey, let&#8217;s do an Americanized remake of the cult classic action film District B13!&#8221;
