When I was a little kid, I used to love movies<\/b> and tv shows<\/b> about aliens<\/b> coming to Earth<\/b>. <\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

If we were lucky, they were friendly and intelligent like Michael Rennie<\/b> in The Day that the Earth Stood Still<\/a><\/b>. He even looked human. <\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Then again, so did the aliens in the 60’s tv show<\/b> The Invaders<\/b>. [I haven’t seen an episode in years, and wonder how it would hold up.]<\/p>\n

Sometimes the aliens<\/b> were simply monsters<\/b> out to wipe us out, like in the classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers<\/b><\/a> or War of the Worlds<\/a><\/b>. [And, yes, I’m really looking forward to the update<\/b><\/a> by Spielberg<\/b> and Cruise<\/b>.]<\/p>\n

Occasionally, there would be just one alien<\/b>. And boy, were we lucky that there was only one if the alien<\/b> ended up being like The Blob<\/a><\/b> or The Thing<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n

Growing up, I not only liked movies<\/b> and tv shows<\/b> about aliens<\/b>, but I also read and watched programs about UFOs<\/b>. <\/p>\n

I still do.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Think how cool it would be if we could find definitive proof of intelligent life in outer space<\/b>. Uh… as long as they weren’t out to wipe us out.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

As I get older, I stil retain that sense of wonder<\/b> about life in outer space. Most likely it’s out there. It’s just that the universe<\/b> is such a huge place.<\/p>\n
