There are far more <\/span><b style=\"font-family: arial;\">Jaws                        2<\/b><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">&#8216;s than there are <\/span><b style=\"font-family: arial;\">Godfather 2<\/b><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">&#8216;s. And the farther                        you go down the sequel path, the more likely you are to                        see a mess.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">                     <\/div>\n<p face=\"arial\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m happy to say that <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgearomero.com\/main.php\" target=\"_blank\">George                        A. Romero<\/a>&#8216;s Land                        of the Dead <\/b>is a welcome addition to his <b>zombie<\/b>                        series.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">                     <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\">My favorite is still <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B00005B1YC\/craizabls\/103-7710268-2670268?creative=327641&#038;camp=14573&amp;link_code=as1\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Night                        of the Living Dead.&#8221;<\/a><\/b> I doubt that any <b>zombie                        movie<\/b> will ever top <b>NOTLD<\/b>, not only because <b>everything<\/b>                        came together on it [the <b>low budget<\/b>, <b>shooting                        in black and white<\/b>, a <b>cast of unknowns<\/b>, etc.],                        but also because it was the first <b>zombie movie<\/b> to                        really get to me. These weren&#8217;t <b>island zombies<\/b> or                        some <b>mummy<\/b> come back to life. These were our <b>neighbors<\/b>,                        our <b>friends<\/b> and even our <b>family members<\/b> who                        were <b>crawling out of the grave<\/b> to eat us!<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">                     <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b>Land of the Dead<\/b> is my <b>second favorite<\/b> of<b>                        Romero<\/b>&#8216;s quartet [followed by <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/B0001611DI\/ref=ase_craizabls\/103-7710268-2670268?v=glance&#038;s=dvd\" target=\"_blank\">Dawn                        of the Dead<\/a><\/b> and then <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/6305223343\/craizabls\/104-3670480-7330302?creative=327641&amp;camp=14573&#038;link_code=as1\" target=\"_blank\">Day                        of the Dead<\/a><\/b>]. While I generally don&#8217;t like the idea                        of <b>&#8220;smart&#8221; zombies<\/b>, I was intrigued by                        the idea that these <b>zombies<\/b> were <b>starting to learn<\/b>.                        I thought <b>all of of the actors<\/b> were <b>well cast<\/b>.                        The use of <b>fireworks <\/b>as a plot device was a cool                        idea. Heck, I can even go with the idea that <i>money<\/i>                        still <b>has value<\/b> [although that plot element to me                        was the weakest]. <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">                     <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b>Land of the Dead <\/b>is supposed to be <b>Romero&#8217;s final                        zombie movie,<\/b> but I wouldn&#8217;t mind see him come back                        for another.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;Night of the Living Dead&#8221;<\/span> rates an <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">A+<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;Dawn of the Dead&#8221;<\/span> [original] rates a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">C+<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;Dawn of the Dead&#8221;<\/span> [remake] rates an <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">A<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;Day of the Dead&#8221;<\/span> rates a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">C<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;Land of the Dead&#8221;<\/span> rates a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">B<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> <\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sequels are rarely as good as the original.
