My recent trip to Heroes Con 2005<\/a><\/b> was recounted here<\/b><\/a>, but now that I’ve posted my art pick-ups in my Stallone Gallery<\/b>, I thought that I should also provide links not only on the SZ<\/b> [for Stallone<\/b> fans], but also here in the ZONE<\/b> for my blog<\/b> and comic friends<\/b>.<\/p>\n

My first piece posted, by Steve McNiven<\/a><\/b>, was actually one that I got at MegaCon
2005<\/b> when Steve<\/b> was sketching for the ACTOR<\/b> charity.<\/p>\n

Rick Leonardi<\/b> was the first artist I approached at Heroes 2005<\/b>. I’m a long-time Leonardi<\/b> fan and was very pleased that he agreed to draw Rambo<\/b><\/a> for me. <\/p>\n

Brian Walker<\/b> surprised me with this fun sketch of Sly<\/b> as Lincoln Hawk<\/a><\/b> from Over the Top<\/b>. As a bonus, Brian<\/b> even through in [or is that drew in] Bull Hurley<\/b>!<\/p>\n

What a great gift!<\/p>\n

Mike Ploog<\/b> was an artist<\/b> that drew some of my favorite childhood comics<\/b>.
I couldn’t pass up a chance at a freebie<\/a><\/b> head sketch<\/b><\/a> from Mr. Ploog<\/b> and love
his take on Jack Carter<\/b>.<\/p>\n


I loved Nat Jones<\/b>‘s work with Steve Niles<\/b> on The Nail<\/b>. Nat<\/b> was one of the artists that I really wanted to try and get something from at Heroes<\/b>. You can imagine how happy I was when he agreed to draw Cobra<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n

Gary McKee<\/b> and I have been talking about him doing a piece for my Stallone<\/b> gallery for a while. I was extremely happy when he agreed to do me a water color piece<\/b>. I was even happier when I saw the end result<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Let’s cut to the chase. Casey Jones <\/b>did one of the finest Stallone sketches<\/b> I have yet to receive. He hit a homerun<\/b>, raised the bar<\/b>, use whatever metaphor<\/b> you’d like… or just click HERE<\/b><\/a> and… see for yourself!<\/p>\n

I knew that my sketch from Cliff Chiang<\/b> was going to be very good<\/b>. How could it not be, it’s Cliff Chiang<\/b>! What I didn’t know was that Cliff <\/b>was going to follow Casey Jones<\/b>‘ lead and create one of my all-time favorite pieces<\/b>. Not only did Cliff<\/b> add Adrian<\/b> to the mix, but he also captured the essence of their characters. Wow!<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

If you’ve read this far, you’re a true fan<\/b> of Stallone, comic art<\/b> or both. Either way, let me give you a heads-up<\/b>… yesterday I received a piece of art<\/b> for my Stallone gallery<\/b> from an artist<\/b> whose work I’ve admired for years. I never dreamed that I get something from him, since he rarely goes to conventions<\/b> or sketches<\/b> for fans. I’m still in shock<\/b>. The piece was a gift<\/b> and is so nice. I’ll add it to my gallery<\/b> in a day or two after I quit staring at it.<\/p>\n
