On November 27th<\/b> of this year, Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> would have been 65 years old<\/b>. Amazing isn’t it?<\/p>\n

It’s hard to imagine Bruce<\/b> as ever being older than 32<\/b>, since that’s how old he was when he died on July 20, 1973<\/b>. Think about that for a second. Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> died 32 years<\/b> ago. Bruce<\/a><\/b> has been dead<\/b> now for a longer<\/b> period of time than he lived<\/b>. And yet, you can say his name to almost anyone of any age and they know who Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> was.<\/p>\n

My guess is that he’s more popular now<\/b> than he was while alive. I say that because each year a new generation<\/b> discovers Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> and his movies<\/b> [and he only made a handful of kung fu movies before he died].<\/p>\n

I’m old enough that my first memory<\/b> of Bruce<\/a><\/b> was as Kato<\/b> on The Green Hornet<\/b>. Man, Kato<\/b> was cool! Of course, that was because of Bruce<\/a>‘s charisma<\/b>.<\/p>\n

After The Green Hornet<\/b>, Bruce<\/a><\/b>‘s next onscreen performance<\/b> was with James Garner<\/b> in Marlowe<\/b>. Bruce<\/a><\/b> had a small role as a martial artist thug<\/b>.<\/p>\n

I also fondly remember my anticipation to see Bruce<\/b><\/a> in the tv movie<\/b> “Longstreet.<\/b>” Lee<\/a><\/b> played the part of a martial artist<\/b> who trains<\/b> a blind insurance investigator<\/b> the art of self defense. When the movie spun off into a short lived tv series<\/b>, Lee<\/b> was brought back for four<\/b> of the 23 episodes<\/b>.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t long after that Bruce Lee<\/a>‘s Fist of Fury<\/a><\/b> aka The Big Boss<\/b> hit the US<\/b>. It was quickly followed by The Chinese Connection<\/a><\/b> and Return of the Dragon<\/a><\/b> [with Chuck Norris<\/b> fighting Bruce<\/a> <\/b>to the death]. Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> fever was growing, but it wasn’t until the release of Enter the Dragon<\/b> that Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> mania really soared. Sadly, Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> died three weeks<\/b> prior <\/b>to it’s premiere<\/b> in the USA<\/b>.<\/p>\n

As you probably know, Enter the Dragon<\/a><\/b> is the classic Bruce Lee<\/a> movie<\/b>… it’s still the best kung fu movie<\/b> ever made… and arguments can be made the best action movie<\/b> as well.<\/p>\n

After Bruce<\/a>‘s death<\/b>, producers<\/b> sought every way possible<\/b> to continue to make money<\/b> from Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b>. Green Hornet episodes<\/a><\/b> were combined<\/b> and released<\/b> as features<\/b> with Kato<\/b> getting top billing<\/b>! The Game of Death<\/a><\/b>, the movie<\/b> that Bruce<\/a><\/b> was working on<\/b> when he died<\/b> was completed<\/b> with a look-alike<\/b> and bad effects<\/b> and it was released<\/b>. Several movies<\/b> were released “based”<\/b> on the life of Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> [but made to look<\/b> like new Bruce Lee<\/a> movies<\/b>], equally as bad<\/b> were the movies starring<\/b> guys like Bruce Li<\/b> or Bruce Le<\/b> trying to pass as the original. The one excellent documentary<\/b> that should be in every Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> fan’s collection <\/b>is
\nBruce Lee: A Warrior’s Journey<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> was named “Chinese Film’s Bright Star of the Century.”<\/b> This November<\/b>, in honor of Bruce<\/a>‘s 65th birthday<\/b> and bigger than life bronze statue<\/b> of Bruce<\/a><\/b> will be errected in Hong Kong’s Avenue of Stars<\/b>. Yeah it’s true that Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> died 32 years ago<\/b>… but it’s equally true that Bruce Lee<\/a><\/b> will live forever!<\/p>\n
