\"\"<\/a>Ten years ago OJ Simpson<\/strong> was found not guilty <\/strong>of the murders<\/strong> of Nicole Brown-Simpson<\/strong> and Ron Goldman<\/strong>. The evidence<\/strong> against Simpson<\/strong> was overwhelming<\/strong>. Fortunately for Simpson<\/strong>, his legal team, especially Johnnie Cochran<\/strong>, was able to sway the jury to not only discount the evidence<\/strong>, but it many instances to ignore it completely<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

The trial<\/strong> lasted a year and had more drama and startling turns<\/strong> than a soap opera. In the end Simpson<\/strong> was found innocent<\/strong>. This article<\/strong> from the associated press<\/strong> describes the fallout<\/strong> from the verdict<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Oct. 3, 1995<\/strong>, an estimated 150 million people<\/strong> paused before the nearest TV to witness the outcome<\/strong>. The nation gasped<\/strong> \u2014 whether in satisfaction or outrage<\/strong> \u2014 as Simpson<\/strong> was pronounced not guilty<\/strong> of killing<\/strong> his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson<\/strong> and her friend Ronald Goldman<\/strong>. The trial and verdict divided the country<\/strong> then, and the more profound divisions it exposed remain today<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Next Tuesday <\/strong>at 9pm, PBS<\/strong> will revisit the case <\/strong>in the special “Frontline: The O.J. Verdict.”<\/strong> Featuring extensive interviews<\/strong> with the defense, prosecution and journalists<\/strong>, the special will explore the verdict <\/strong>and the wide difference<\/strong> in reaction<\/strong> to it which fell along racial lines<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Oddly enough, this weekend, Simpson<\/strong> will make a rare public appearance<\/strong> signing autographs<\/strong> [for cash] at,of all places, a horror convention<\/strong>! Talk about bad taste<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The fact that this weekend marks the tenth anniversary<\/strong> of the “not guilty” verdict<\/strong>, and Simpson<\/strong> has chosen to be a special guest<\/strong> along with movie murderers, monsters and zombies<\/strong> shows a real lack of compassion and common sense<\/strong> on Simpson<\/strong>‘s part.<\/p>\n

There is NO WAY<\/strong> that one could justify Simpson’s appearance<\/strong> at this show as a sports star. Nope, the draw here<\/strong> is certainly because of his link<\/strong> to the murders of Nicole and Ron<\/strong>. And if you doubt that, then why is Simpson’s friend, A.C. Cowlings<\/strong> [who is more famous for the slow speed Bronco<\/strong> chase than his professional sports career<\/strong>] making a joint appearance with Simpson<\/strong> on Sunday?<\/p>\n

OJ SImpson<\/strong> was found not guilty<\/strong> of the murders of Nicole Simpson<\/strong> and Ron Goldman<\/strong>. Ten years later<\/strong> people are still arguing the validity<\/strong> of that decision.
