\"\"<\/a>I first discovered Mickey Rourke<\/b> in Body Heat<\/b><\/em>. Rourke<\/b> was this skinny little guy who absolutely stole every scene he was in… and although there weren’t that many, Rourke<\/b> made an impact. He was an actor to watch<\/b>.<\/span><\/div>\n

Mickey Rourke<\/b> appeared in a few other films [getting excellent reviews<\/b>] before I saw him again. This time the film was Rumble Fish<\/b><\/em>. Rourke<\/b> was again impressive<\/b> as the ultra cool Motorcycle Boy<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The next few years saw him in Year of the Dragon<\/b><\/em>, [playing an older cop fighting Chinese<\/b> gangs], the controversial Nine 1\/2 Weeks<\/b><\/em>, and the even more controversial Angel Heart<\/b><\/em>. Rourke<\/b> was starring in big movies and earning rave reviews<\/b>. Barfly<\/b><\/em> with Frank Stallone<\/b> was another well received role.<\/p>\n

But then things seemed to go downhill… Johnny Handsome<\/b><\/em> directed by Walter Hill<\/b> didn’t really work… and neither did Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man<\/b>, Wild Orchid<\/b><\/em> or White Sands<\/b><\/em>. Rourke<\/b>‘s personal life<\/b> seemed to be out of control<\/b> as well. Reports of drug and alcohol abuse<\/b> as well as abuse of his love, Carrie Otis<\/b> began to make more headlines than his movies.<\/p>\n

And almost as quickly as Rourke<\/b>‘s star had risen, it sank. Sure, he still worked, but usually in straight to video<\/b> features. Most people counted Rourke out<\/b>. He’d had his shot and blew it.<\/p>\n

Then in 2000<\/b>, Rourke<\/b> co-starred in Get Carter<\/b><\/em> with Sly Stallone<\/b>. Sly<\/b> wanted Rourke <\/b>for the role and Rourke<\/b> brought his “A” game<\/b>. The following year, Sean Penn<\/b> was directing The Pledge<\/b><\/em> and he had a role for his friend Mickey, <\/b> who again turned in an excellent job. Reports began to come out that Rourke<\/b> had given up his bad boy ways. High profile parts in both Once Upon A Time in Mexico<\/b><\/em> and Man on Fire<\/b><\/em> <\/b>paved the way for his starring role in Sin City<\/b><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Man, Rourke<\/b> was perfect for the part of Marv<\/b>. Fans and critics alike sat up and took notice. He received some of the best reviews of his career<\/b>. Suddenly Rourke<\/b> began to get better scripts and the opportunity to work with A list<\/b> actors and directors again. Rourke<\/b> was back and getting a second chance at stardom<\/b>.<\/p>\n
