not only do they get their scenes but every character gets enough backstory to feel real.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">We lose characters in every Ledger story &#8211; the losses hurt because of the great characterization and because Maberry creates a world where the good guys don&#8217;t always come out on top. \u00a0When someone is killed the loss is not only felt but can have ramifications throughout the series.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Maberry isn&#8217;t afraid to create a villain that is smarter than everyone.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A major scene unfolds at DragonCon.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Maberry creates a universe where events have ramifications felt throughout the world but he never loses sight of his plot and the writing never feels padded.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The scene when a team member is bit by a zombie, his suit torn and another team member points his rifle and demands to see the bite&#8230;
