It <b>inspired generations<\/b> of film makers and paved the way for a <b>new genre of movie <\/b> which                  spawned <b>countless imitations<\/b> in <b>film<\/b> and other <b>entertainment media<\/b>.                  Consider all of the <b>King Kong<\/b> riffs that you&#8217;ve seen in <b>tv, comics, novels<\/b>, etc.                  Yeah, the original <b>King Kong<\/b> is the<b> gold standard<\/b>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p face=\"arial\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\"><b>Peter Jackson&#8217;s King Kong <\/b>is going to                  be dismissed by some <b>pureists<\/b> who won&#8217;t consider anything but the <b>original<\/b> <b>King Kong<\/b>                  to be <b>the best.<\/b> For many<b> film buffs<\/b>,the<b> original<\/b><b> King Kong<\/b> is <u><b>THE                  movie<\/b><\/u> that made them<b> love film<\/b>. <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">The<b><b> original <\/b>King Kong<\/b> touched                  them in a way that <b>no other film ever did<\/b> before and when they watch it they<b> recapture that feeling<\/b>. They&#8217;re                  taken back to a time and a place that was special. No matter how good <b>Peter Jackson&#8217;s                  King Kong<\/b> is, it won&#8217;t be able to <b>rekindle those feelings<\/b> and will                  therefore fall short. Heck, I&#8217;d feel the same way about any<b> Rocky<\/b> movie that wasn&#8217;t                  made by <b>Sly Stallone<\/b>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">Ok, so how good is <b>Peter Jackson<\/b>&#8216;s take                  on the big ape?<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">That I can answer. It&#8217;s <b>absolutely great<\/b>.                  Easily one of my <b>two favorite movies<\/b> of the year.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">First of all, my hat is off to <b>Peter Jackson<\/b>.                  <b>King Kong<\/b> has been <b>the film<\/b> that he&#8217;s wanted to tackle since before he became a filmmaker. Everything                  that he&#8217;d done before <b>Kong<\/b> was just to prepare him for <b>Kong<\/b>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\"><b>Everything <\/b>about the movie is <b>near                  perfect<\/b>. Loved the <b>cast<\/b>. The <b>special effects<\/b> were <b>flawless<\/b>. The <b>music<\/b> and <b>editing<\/b>                  were as well. The <b>screenplay<\/b>, while based on<b> the original King Kong<\/b> screenplay, <b>kicked up                  the action<\/b> and took me to a place that was familiar but <b>much, much more dangerous<\/b>.                  All aspects of the production combined to create a<b> movie-going                  experience that was truly an experience<\/b>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">Before I go on, let me say that <b>if you haven&#8217;t                  seen the movie<\/b>, you <b>may want to stop reading<\/b> since I&#8217;m going to discuss aspects that contain                  <b>SPOILERS&#8230;<\/b><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\"><b>&#8230; Still here&#8230; ok then&#8230;<\/b><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\"><b>Some folks<\/b> have complained that the <b>first                  hour is too slow<\/b>. I went in thinking that this might be the case, <b>but for me, it wasn&#8217;t<\/b>. I <b>enjoyed                  <\/b>the <b>character development<\/b>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">I <b>loved<\/b> the <b>look of the island<\/b>.                  The<b> natives<\/b> were r<b>ealistic and frightening<\/b>.  Come to think of it, <b>even the island looked frightening<\/b>!                  And you&#8217;ve gotta love the way the native got onto the ship!<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">And then t<b>he appearance<\/b> of <b>Kong<\/b>.                  Man, he<b> looks so real<\/b>. And I&#8217;m not just talking about his <b>physical appearance<\/b>. He <b>moves like a giant                  ape should<\/b> [note I said should, not does]. His fur gets matted and stuff gets in it. <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">I think it&#8217;s cool that <b>Kong&#8217;s scarred and                  older looking<\/b>. He&#8217;s a <b>warrior<\/b> on an island that demands you fight to survive. <b>His battle<\/b> with                  not one, but <b>three  tyranesarous rex<\/b> [at the same time] was <b>nothing short of                  amazing<\/b>. All the while he&#8217;s fighting them, he&#8217;s <b>protecting Ann<\/b>&#8230; even as he throws                  punches, climbs, dodges and falls. He&#8217;s not called <b>&#8220;King&#8221; Kong<\/b>                  without reason.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">But there&#8217;s more to<b> King Kong <\/b>than just                  the <b>baddest mo<\/b> on the island. <b>Kong <\/b>is the <b>last of his kind<\/b> and <b>his loneliness<\/b> is apparent.                  I also love it that <b>Kong is intelligent<\/b>. He has a <b>sense of humor<\/b> and <b>enjoys                  the beauty of a sunrise<\/b>. If you haven&#8217;t seen the movie, then my last sentence probably has you                  scratching your head. If you&#8217;ve seen the movie then you know<b> it will break                  your heart <\/b>before the movie&#8217;s end.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">I love <b>the search for Ann<\/b> in <b>New York<\/b>&#8230;                  the<b> frantic, wild search<\/b> <b>for just the right women <\/b>and then how <b>everything slows down and nothing else                  in the world matters once you find her<\/b>. The <b>escape with Ann<\/b> is exciting                  and then <b>the interlude on the ice<\/b>. <u>Beautiful<\/u>. <b>Unexpected and                  so sweet<\/b>. It was at this point that I could feel the tears forming. Because <b>the interlude<\/b> wouldn&#8217;t                  last. <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\"><b>Kong<\/b>&#8216;s climb up the <b>Empire State building<\/b>                  still had <b>one more surprise<\/b>. If you saw the movie, you know what I mean. <b>Kong<\/b> places <b>Ann<\/b>                  in a place of safety and sits next to her. He looks out at the horizon and sees a sunrise                  and<b> &#8220;tells&#8221; Ann<\/b> it&#8217;s <b>beautiful<\/b>. Now the                  tears were flowing&#8230;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">&#8230; because here came the planes. And you know                  the rest.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">So is <b>Peter Jackson&#8217;s King Kong<\/b> <u>better<\/u>                  than the original<b> King Kong<\/b>? <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">Who&#8217;s to say? Comparing the<b> original King                  Kong <\/b>to <b>Peter Jackson&#8217;s King Kong<\/b> is like comparing an athlete from <b>1933<\/b> to one from today.                  Odds are that<b> today&#8217;s athlete <\/b>is <b>bigger and faster<\/b> but does that make him                  better? Does it really matter?<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">I guess that&#8217;s why <b>sports leagues<\/b> create                  their own <b>Halls of Fame<\/b>. Different<b> athletes from different time periods<\/b> can be <b>honored<\/b>                  and there is <b>room for all who deserve<\/b> a spot.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\"><b>Peter Jackson&#8217;s King Kong <\/b>deserves a                  spot next to<b> the original King Kong<\/b>. Let others then argue which <b>Kong is King<\/b>. <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">               <\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">As for me, I&#8217;ll spend my time watching them                  both!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\">The <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Original &#8220;King Kong&#8221;<\/span> rates an <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">A+.  Peter Jackson&#8217;s King Kong <\/span>rates an<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> A+.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\" class=\"bodytext\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peter Jackson&#8217;s King Kong is a worthy successor to the original King Kong.
