Today I’d like to recommend Scalped<\/span>, a new comic series<\/span> which premieres in January<\/span>. It’s a crime comic <\/span>set in the “world of gambling<\/span>, gunfights<\/span>, G-men<\/span>, Dawg Soldiers<\/span>, massacres<\/span>, meth labs<\/span>, trashy sex<\/span>, fry bread<\/span>, Indian pride<\/span> -” <\/span><\/p>\n

Hey! Wait a minute. Did you say Indian pride<\/span>?<\/span><\/p>\n

Yep [and thanks for asking].<\/span><\/p>\n

Scalped<\/span> comes to us from Vertigo comics<\/span> [for mature readers<\/span>] and is written by Jason Aaron<\/span> with art by R.M. Guera<\/span>. For a preview of the issue click HERE<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The first cover<\/span> is by fan favorite Jock <\/span>and can be seen here<\/span><\/a>. Now is it me or does the face on the Native American<\/span> look a bit like Sylvester Stallone<\/span> from this Herb Ritts photo<\/span><\/a>? Want to see them both together<\/span><\/a>? What do you think?<\/p>\n

Truth be told, it does look like Jock<\/span> used a Herb Ritts’ photo of Sly<\/span> for reference, but it may have even been another photo from the same session. I can’t lay my fingers on the photo, but here’s a digital painting<\/span><\/a> that John Beatty<\/span> did of it.<\/p>\n

It’d be cool if Jock<\/span> was a Stallone<\/span> fan… but either way, I’d still recommend Scalped<\/span>.<\/p>\n
