Today I\u2019m going to recommend <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">two excellent<\/span> ones which interestingly enough both feature a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">getaway driver<\/span> as their main character!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0156030322\/002-3960794-4853622?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=craizabls&amp;amp;amp;linkCode=xm2&#038;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=0156030322\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\">Drive<\/span><\/a> written by <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">James Sallis<\/span> opens with <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Driver<\/span> [the main character] wounded and slouched against a cheap hotel room wall.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Three dead bodies<\/span> lay around him.  From there the story takes us back showing us glimpses of how a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">violent childhood<\/span> led to his current double-life where his talents behind the wheel have brought him to a potentially bloody end.  Before his <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">betrayal<\/span> on a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">heist<\/span> doomed from the start, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Driver<\/span> simply drove.  He didn\u2019t even carry weapons.  Now, wounded and with a price on head, things are about to change\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0312343787\/002-3960794-4853622?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=craizabls&amp;amp;amp;linkCode=xm2&#038;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=0312343787\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\">The Wheelman<\/span><\/a> by <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Duane Swierczynski<\/span> opens in the middle of a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">bank robbery<\/span> which has gone south.  Still, with a little bit of luck <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Lennon<\/span> [the driver] and the two robbers get away\u2026 briefly.  What follows is a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">fast paced, violent<\/span>, and at times humorous story of what happens when <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">crooked cops, the Italian mob, the Russian mob,<\/span> and other quirky characters take an interest in getting their hands on <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Lennon<\/span> and the money.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Swierczynski<\/span> takes the story [which moves at a breakneck pace] and fills it with <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">double-crosses, surprises and great prose<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s not much better than a good crime novel\u2026 unless it\u2019s two good crime novels.
