{"id":1425,"date":"2007-03-16T20:18:00","date_gmt":"2007-03-17T00:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1425"},"modified":"2014-12-19T19:48:12","modified_gmt":"2014-12-19T23:48:12","slug":"theres-a-new-snake-in-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1425","title":{"rendered":"There&#8217;s a New Snake in Town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2007\/z031607snake_plissken.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><strong>Variety<\/strong> <strong>announced<\/strong><\/span> yesterday that <strong>New Line<\/strong> won the bidding war to remake <strong><em>Escape From New York<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Gerard Butler<\/strong> [star of the fan favorite and record setting <strong>&#8220;300&#8221;<\/strong>] is set to take on the role of <strong>Snake Plissken<\/strong> which <strong>Kurt Russell<\/strong> made famous.<strong> Ken Nolan<\/strong> <strong>[<em>Black Hawk Down<\/em><\/strong>] is on board to produce the screenplay which will update the <strong>1981 John Carpenter<\/strong> script.<\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">I have <strong>mixed feelings<\/strong> about this. One one hand, <strong>Kurt Russell<\/strong> is still around and in good enough shape to play <strong>Plissken<\/strong> again. I&#8217;ll miss his<strong> &#8220;Clint Eastwood&#8221; delivery<\/strong> as <strong>Plissken<\/strong>. On the other mitt, I&#8217;ve always thought a more realistic and gritty <strong>Snake Plissken<\/strong> would be very cool. It&#8217;ll be interesting to see what direction this updated <strong><em>Escape from New York<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>will take.
