No, he’s not a baseball player. Huston’s a writer<\/strong>. And a very good one. I told you about how much I enjoyed Huston’s writing<\/strong> HERE<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. Now he’s back with his second Joe Pitt<\/strong> novel called No Dominion<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. It’s even better than Already Dead<\/span><\/a><\/strong> [and you know how much I liked it]!<\/span><\/div>\n

So who is Joe Pitt<\/strong>? Let’s let Huston<\/strong> tell you in his own words:<\/span><\/div>\n

Joe<\/strong> is a kind of a detective<\/strong>. Kind of. In the same way he\u2019s kind of alive. Duck around the issue as long as you want, sooner or later it\u2019s gonna bite you. See, Joe\u2019s a vampire<\/strong>. Yeah, a blood sucker. But not in the usual way, least not in the way you\u2019re thinking from the books and the movies. Joe\u2019s<\/strong> got a sickness, same sickness a lot of other poor slobs got. And all of them are creeping around Manhattan<\/strong>, trying to stay out of the public eye, out of the sun. Got themselves organized into Clans<\/strong>, each one laying claim to some turf. Wanna stay alive, gotta be with a Clan<\/strong>. Except Joe<\/strong>. He doesn\u2019t hold with that way of life. That way is no life at all as far as he\u2019s concerned. Ha, life, that\u2019s funny. Sort of.<\/span><\/div>\n

At any rate, after you check out Joe Pitt,<\/strong> you might want to try Huston’s Hank Thompson trilogy<\/strong>. [You should start with Caught Stealing<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, then Six Bad Things<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, and finish with A Dangerous Man<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.] They’re as good as the Joe Pitt<\/strong> books.
