Twilight Zone: “What You Need” <\/strong>[Season 1, Episode 12] Director: Alvin Ganzer<\/strong><\/p>\n Writer: Rod Serling <\/strong>based on a short story by Lewis Padgett<\/strong><\/p>\n Starring: Steve Cochran<\/strong> and Ernest Truex<\/strong> <\/b>with a cameo by Arlene Martel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Overview: Beware of Spoilers\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n Fred Renard<\/strong> [Cochran] is a thuggish man who gets what needs from life through bullying, intimidation and worse. Sadly Renard’s<\/strong> ways have gotten him little. In a bar one night an old man<\/strong> [Truex] enters selling little novelties and necessities.<\/p>\n The old man peddler<\/strong> seems to know what each person needs before they do. The peddler<\/strong> tells a woman she needs stain cleaner and she accepts it. Another patron needs a bus ticket to Scranton. The patron is doubtful but accepts it. Within minutes the old man<\/strong> is proved correct — he has provided them exactly what they need.<\/p>\n Renard<\/strong> has found the golden goose! He intimidates the old man<\/strong> to provide him with what he needs for quick, easy cash. The old man<\/strong> comes through but Renard<\/strong> isn’t satisfied. He tracks the old man<\/strong> down for more. Will the old man<\/strong> have what is needed?<\/p>\n We’re in the Twilight Zone<\/strong>, baby!
