It looks like<\/span> Jason Statham<\/strong> may take the starring role as “Frankenstein”<\/strong> in the remake of Roger Corman’s<\/strong> cult classic “Death Race 2000.”<\/strong> Paul W.S. Anderson<\/strong> has written and is set to direct the updated actioner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although the remake was originally planned as a [pardon the pun] vehicle for Tom Cruise<\/strong>. Cruise<\/strong> has decided to pass on the starring role, but instead stay on as a producer. The original “Death Race 2000”<\/strong> was released in 1975 <\/strong>and starred David Carradine<\/strong> and a pre-“Rocky” Sylvester Stallone<\/strong>. Word is that Anderson<\/strong> would like for Sly<\/strong> to reprise his role as “Machine Gun Joe.”<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
