\"\"<\/a>I read Guy Ritchie’s The Gamekeeper<\/strong> last night. Written by Andy Diggle<\/strong> with art by Mukesh Singh<\/strong>, and based on a concept by none other than [Madonna’s husband<\/strong> and film director] Guy<\/strong> “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels”<\/em> Ritchie<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ritchie<\/strong> isn’t what caused me to pick up the comic though. I saw “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels”<\/strong> and thought it was okay, and have never seen “Snatch”<\/strong> or possibly any of Ritchie’s other movies<\/strong>. [And NO, I didn’t buy it because of the Madonna<\/strong> connection.] <\/span>I did buy it because I enjoyed Diggle’s work<\/strong> on The Losers<\/strong> and because the preview art looked pretty good. <\/span><\/div>\n

In the opening issue nothing is as it first appears. A runaway<\/strong> shows up on a Scottish<\/strong> estate. He is taken to the owner of the estate, a kind older man<\/strong>, by the Checen groundskeeper<\/strong> [or should I say “Gamekeeper”<\/strong>]. Before the day is over the estate is attacked<\/strong> by several well-armed men<\/strong>. The runaway<\/strong>, the older man<\/strong> and the Gamekeeper<\/strong> are all more than what they seem at first glance. And that mystery is reason enough<\/strong> to come back for issue two<\/strong>.<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
