I&#8217;ve read [and enjoyed] all of his novels&#8230; and I&#8217;m proud to say that I&#8217;ve been with his sigature characters <strong>Elvis Cole<\/strong> and <strong>Joe Pike<\/strong> since their first appearance in <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0553275852\/102-1110195-0043334?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=craizabls&amp;amp;amp;linkCode=xm2&#038;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=0553275852\"><span style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\">The Monkey&#8217;s Raincoat<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. In each previous novel, <strong>Cole<\/strong> was always <strong>center stage<\/strong> with <strong>Pike<\/strong> coming in to back-up his partner. <strong>Pike <\/strong>was the<strong> tough, no-nonsense hardened gunman<\/strong>. We knew little about him other than he had a <strong>strict code of honor<\/strong>, he was <strong>loyal <\/strong>and he <strong>never backed up<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">With <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0743281632\/102-1110195-0043334?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=craizabls&amp;amp;amp;linkCode=xm2&#038;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=0743281632\"><span style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\">The Watchman<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Crais<\/strong> turns the tables and gives <strong>Joe Pike<\/strong> center stage when he agrees to protect a <strong>young heiress<\/strong> who has become the <strong>target of a hit squad<\/strong>. Seems she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and now the US Government wants her as a witness and a terrorist wants her dead. <strong>Pike<\/strong> is more than up to the task of protecting her [especially with <strong>Elvis Cole<\/strong> backing him]. The book is <strong>fast paced<\/strong> and <strong>just as good<\/strong> as the previous novels featuring<strong> Cole<\/strong> and <strong>Pike<\/strong>. I just wonder if long time readers are going to like the way <strong>Crais<\/strong> has filled in some of the blanks about<strong> Pike&#8217;s life<\/strong>. As for me, I can&#8217;t wait for their next &#8220;case&#8221; &#8212; no matter who is at center stage. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert Crais is one of my favorite authors.
