{"id":1475,"date":"2007-05-18T20:46:00","date_gmt":"2007-05-19T00:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1475"},"modified":"2020-08-11T19:04:18","modified_gmt":"2020-08-11T23:04:18","slug":"28-weeks-later-rates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1475","title":{"rendered":"&quot;28 weeks later&quot; Rates&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_aatuWUTj6ic\/Rk5JBt3VgoI\/AAAAAAAAAdQ\/WeEC88ULGTo\/s1600-h\/z051807_28weeks.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5066066924678775426\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_aatuWUTj6ic\/Rk5JBt3VgoI\/AAAAAAAAAdQ\/WeEC88ULGTo\/s400\/z051807_28weeks.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">I loved <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial;\">&#8220;28 days later.&#8221;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"> So when <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial;\">&#8220;28 weeks later&#8221;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"> was announced, along with the fact that the original writer [<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial;\">Alex Garland<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">], the original director [<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial;\">Danny Boyle<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">] and the original cast were not returning, I felt we might be in for a letdown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;28 weeks later&#8221;<\/span> has an ambitious screenplay by <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rowan Joffe<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Juan Carlos Fresnadillo<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Jesus Olmo<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Enrique Lopez Lavigne<\/span>. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Juan Carlos Fresnadillo<\/span> takes the director&#8217;s chair and does an admirable job of retaining the feel and style of the original. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial;\">Robert Carlyle<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"> [who is always good] is the biggest name actor in the new cast although many will recognize <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial;\">Harold Perrineau<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">, from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial;\">&#8220;Lost&#8221;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"> in a small but important role.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">Spoilers will follow&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial;\">movie opens<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"> with perhaps the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial;\">best scenes<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"> in the film. A<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> band of survivors<\/span> [including a husband and wife who hope that their children are still alive] have <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">barricaded<\/span> themselves in a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">remote farm house<\/span>. As they settle down for dinner, it is obvious that their situation is wearing them down. When <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">a child<\/span> is heard yelling to be let in the house, the theme of the movie comes into play&#8230; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">who\/how many will you sacrifice to save yourself<\/span>? There&#8217;s hesitation, but they let the boy in and soon enough all of the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;infected&#8221;<\/span> that were chasing the boy, are<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> breaking into the house<\/span>. They succeed and the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">survivors run<\/span> and fight for their lives. A horrible moment occurs when<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> the husband <\/span>makes it to the window and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">his wife hesitates<\/span> so that she can bring along the boy. A <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">group of infected get between them<\/span> and the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">husband is faced with a choice<\/span>: try to save his wife and the boy or himself. He chooses to save himself. The last image that he sees as he runs from the farm house is of his wife being pulled from the window.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">The <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">husband<\/span> makes his way to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">safety<\/span> and is part of a group brought in to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">repopulate London<\/span>. The <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">virus is gone<\/span>, and the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">military are everywhere<\/span> insuring a quick end should it return. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">And return return it does&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify; font-family: arial;\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">The Good<\/span>: <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;28 weeks&#8221;<\/span> retains much of the feel of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;28 days.&#8221;<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Robert Carlyle<\/span>. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Jeremy Renner<\/span> who almost <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">steals the show<\/span> in his role as <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Doyle<\/span>. The way that the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">virus<\/span> is brought back into play. The <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">infection spreading<\/span> through the crowded underground safe haven. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">No one is safe&#8230; no one<\/span>! The <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">potential<\/span> for <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;28 months later!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">The Bad<\/span>: The way that <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Robert Carlyle<\/span> is <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">always able<\/span> to find the survivors who are on the run.
