Saturday I spent the day hanging out with my best bud, John Beatty<\/strong> at MegaCon<\/strong>. \u00a0John<\/strong> was a guest of the show along with Mike Zeck<\/strong> and a gazillion big name comic artists, animators, actors (sci-fi, horror, anime,tv, movie), tattoo artists, cosplay folks, gaming people, crafts people, and fans of all of the above. Thousands and thousands of fans were in attendance.<\/p>\n Because I was there for just one day and knew I wouldn’t have time to commission any artists, my goal was to touch base with friends I seldom see, check out artist alley and hang out with Big Beatty<\/strong>. \u00a0All three goals were accomplished.<\/p>\n I was able to at least say “hi” to Mike Zeck, Michael Golden, Hoyt Silva, Manny Aguilera, Gene Gonzalez, Jason Walker, Jason Solbol, <\/strong>“The” James Howell, John Higashi, Steve <\/strong>“Born to Be Alive” Martinez<\/strong>\u00a0(who we hadn’t seen in over 25 years), Mike Kott<\/strong> and I’m sure a few others I’ve forgotten to mention.<\/p>\n That’s Mike Zeck<\/strong> getting a photo with a fan and getting photo-bombed by John Beatty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Neal Adams<\/strong> came over to say “Hi” to Zeck<\/strong> and Beatty<\/strong>. \u00a0I looked up and suddenly Neal Adams<\/strong> was there. \u00a0For those that don’t know, Neal Adams<\/strong> is one of the living legends of comics. \u00a0Over the years, because of all the shows I have attended, I’ve met a lot of famous artists but I’d never met Neal Adams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Anyway, I was sitting behind the table next to Beatty<\/strong> and as Neal<\/strong> spoke to Zeck<\/strong> and Beatty<\/strong> he would look over at me. \u00a0I know Neal<\/strong> was thinking, “Who is this guy? \u00a0I guess I should know him.” \u00a0As Neal<\/strong> got ready to leave I stood up with the intent to just say that I was a fan of his art, but truth be told I became tongue-tied as Neal<\/strong> reached out to shake my hand. \u00a0What I hoped to be, “Nice to meet you Mr. Adams” turned into something like, “I’m not an artist – I’m just a friend of John’s – I’m a big fan of your work, Mr. Adams.” \u00a0Definitely a fanboy moment.<\/p>\n The guy above was making the rounds and looked so much like The Beast<\/strong> I had to snap a photo. \u00a0He said the only thing not real was the “blue” and his choppers. \u00a0Yikes!<\/p>\n I did pick up a few things at the show…\u00a0Manny Aguilera<\/strong> was set up in artist alley and he did a cool sketch of a scene with Sly<\/strong> from Lords of Flatbush<\/strong><\/em> that he surprised me with. \u00a0Josh Hood<\/strong> was sketching for fans and had copies of We Can Never Go Home<\/strong><\/a>. \u00a0I picked up a copy. \u00a0(Check it out and maybe you will as well.) \u00a0I also bought two prints: Rocky Balboa vs Apollo Creed fight poster by Brian Hoang<\/strong><\/a> (for me) and a Predator<\/strong> print for my nephew. \u00a0I also got to check out some of the Frank Miller<\/strong> originals that were on display. \u00a0The rest of the time was spent hanging with Big Beatty<\/strong> who had Zeck<\/strong> on one side and J.
