His <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;I Am Legend&#8221;<\/span> comic was more a transcription than an adaptation, and the few other things of his I&#8217;ve read (admittedly, not that much) played out like a regurgitation of B-movie plots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">Now, much the same could be said of my stuff, and I don&#8217;t begrudge him his success, I just don&#8217;t get all the hullabaloo&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">&#8212;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Craig <\/span>responds:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Chris<\/span>, like most projects that have a lot of buzz, I think that it\u2019s a combination of things coming together at the right time. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Horror movies<\/span> are doing well now and people want to see them. Perhaps it\u2019s because of the times in which we live.<span style=\"font-family: arial;\">I was more impressed with the first graphic novel. The concept was new to me and I\u2019d imagine a lot of other people as well. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">I\u2019ll have to keep an eye out for <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">\u201cJugular Wine.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">You and I both read a lot of graphic novels\/comics so <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Templesmith\u2019s art <\/span>probably didn\u2019t seem as groundbreaking to us, but to casual readers it probably shocked them. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">\u201c30 Days of Night\u201d <\/span>was [at least to a lot of folks] what adults [or at least young adults] want in comics so of course they\u2019d love to see a movie adaptation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">I first discovered <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Steve Niles<\/span> through his <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">\u201cI Am Legend\u201d<\/span> adaptation and I\u2019d agree with your assessment of it. Still, it was cool to see him bring it to comics. I\u2019d forgotten all about <strong>Niles<\/strong> until I read his novel <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Guns, Drugs and Monsters<\/span>. I loved it. From there I sought out <a style=\"color: #cc0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/097122823X\/103-0281683-4888653?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=craizabls&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=097122823X\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">his other novel<\/span><\/a> and of course <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a style=\"color: #cc0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0971977550\/103-0281683-4888653?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=craizabls&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=0971977550\">\u201c30 Days of Night.\u201d<\/a> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Niles<\/span> and I exchanged a few e-mails and I met him at a convention. He seemed like an ordinary guy who made good\u2026 and he knew how lucky he was. He was humble and appreciative of his fans. When the movie deal was announced, I was happy to see that he\u2019d hit the lottery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">As for the movie itself, it looks great.
