If you’re a fan of fanzines, then you’ve got to check out Ken Meyer, Jr.’s<\/strong> monthly column Ink Stains<\/strong>. \u00a0Each month Ken (who is an amazing artist<\/strong><\/a>) posts… well, let’s let Ken<\/strong> explain…<\/p>\n I have a collection of over 200 fanzines from the 60\u2019s-80\u2019s that I plan to scan and talk about, one at a time. I hope to have some of the participants answer a few questions. Many of those participants are established comics professionals now, while some have gone on to other things. I will show a few snippets from each zine and give you a link to download a pdf of the whole thing, which I hope all of you will do!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n For Ink Stains 19<\/strong><\/a>, Ken<\/strong> took a look at CPL 11<\/b><\/a>\u00a0from\u00a01974.<\/strong>\u00a0 Edited and published by Robert Layton <\/b>[aka Bob Layton of Iron Man fame].<\/p>\n CPL\u00a0<\/strong>was a quarterly fanzine published by Bob Layton<\/strong> and it was one of the high water marks of comic fanzines. \u00a0CPL<\/strong> always had art from pros as well as soon to be pros and you could tell that the writers and artists for CPL<\/strong> loved comics.<\/p>\n CPL 11<\/strong> featured a cover by Alex Toth<\/strong>, full page illos from Rich Buckler<\/strong> and spot illos from Neal Adams, John Byrne, Don Maitz, Jim Starlin, Gil Kane, Clyde Caldwell,<\/strong> and Dan Adkins<\/strong>. \u00a0Let’s not forget the writers of CPL 11: Steve Gerber, John Byrne, Roger Stern<\/strong> and CC Beck<\/strong>.
