{"id":1706,"date":"2008-01-20T08:57:00","date_gmt":"2008-01-20T12:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1706"},"modified":"2008-01-20T08:57:00","modified_gmt":"2008-01-20T12:57:00","slug":"rip-suzanne-pleshette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1706","title":{"rendered":"RIP: Suzanne Pleshette"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/bp2.blogger.com\/_aatuWUTj6ic\/R5NFTWUMy8I\/AAAAAAAAA-I\/SgZs_sbXHYI\/s1600-h\/z012008suzannepleshette.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/bp2.blogger.com\/_aatuWUTj6ic\/R5NFTWUMy8I\/AAAAAAAAA-I\/SgZs_sbXHYI\/s400\/z012008suzannepleshette.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157542196979485634\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Suzanne Pleshette<\/span>, best known for her role as <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Bob Newhart&#8217;s wife<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Emily Hartley<\/span>, on <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;The Bob Newhart Show&#8221;<\/span> passed away yesterday at the age of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">70<\/span> from respiratory failure. <\/p>\n<p>The first time I remember seeing <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Suzanne Pleshette<\/span> on screen was in <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Alfred Hitchcock&#8217;s &#8220;The Birds.&#8221;<\/span>  She played <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rod Taylor&#8217;s ex-flame<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Annie Taylor<\/span> [who to me was more appealing than his new love interest, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Tippi Hendren<\/span>].  I know I saw her in other things [since <a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/imdb.com\/name\/nm0687189\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">she turned up in a lot of guest star roles<\/span><\/a>], but my next  memory is of her co-starring with  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">James Garner<\/span> in <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;Support Your Local  Gunfighter.&#8221; <\/span> Not long after that came the classic role on <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Newhart<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Suzanne Pleshette<\/span> was pretty, fun-loving and brought a sparkle to the roles she played.  She will be missed.
