{"id":1787,"date":"2008-04-13T12:22:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-13T16:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1787"},"modified":"2015-06-06T15:09:21","modified_gmt":"2015-06-06T19:09:21","slug":"fandango-escape-artist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1787","title":{"rendered":"Fandango the Escape Artist Who Brought Down &#8220;Machine Gun Kelly&#8221; [2008]"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_aatuWUTj6ic\/SAIzSLFX69I\/AAAAAAAABJ0\/f53jN2fD248\/s1600-h\/z041308machinegunkelly.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5188766107990223826\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_aatuWUTj6ic\/SAIzSLFX69I\/AAAAAAAABJ0\/f53jN2fD248\/s400\/z041308machinegunkelly.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last night my wife and I were watching the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1958 Roger Corman <\/span>cult film <em><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Machine Gun Kelly<\/span><\/em>\u00a0 starring <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Charles Bronson<\/span>. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Morey Amsterdam<\/span>, who is probably best known for his classic role as <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Buddy Sorrell <\/span>on <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">The Dick Van Dyke Show<\/span>, was one of the co-stars. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Amsterdam<\/span> played a swishy, one-armed weasel named <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Fandango<\/span> who eventually brings about <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Machine Gun Kelly&#8217;s<\/span> downfall, but before he does there&#8217;s a scene that&#8217;s so unintentionally funny that I&#8217;ve got to tell you about it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">Okay. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">So the police have brought <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Fandango<\/span> into the station. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Fandango<\/span> is a small, wimpy wanna-be bad guy that everyone pushes around. The cops have been sweating him in order to find <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Machine Gun Kelly<\/span>. Despite their best efforts they&#8217;re unable to get <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Fandango<\/span> to break so they turn him loose. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">After <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Fandango<\/span> leaves the room the head detective tells his partner not to worry, he&#8217;s put his best man on trailing the one-armed weasel. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Less than five seconds later<\/span> the door opens and a cop says, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;He got away. I lost him. He slipped into the ladies room and got away.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">My wife and I both burst out laughing. Their <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">best cop<\/span> lost a small, one-armed man named <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Fandango<\/span> before he could even get out of the police station! The next scene showed <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Fandango<\/span> arriving at the hideout and he was still wearing his huge overcoat with the sleeve pinned up. He didn&#8217;t even have to try to disguise himself or lose his overcoat. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">There&#8217;s a lesson here. If you really need a quick get away, hit the women&#8217;s room and don&#8217;t look back.
