Behind the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Bee Gees<\/span>, they are probably the band most associated with the disco era. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 100%;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">KC and the Sunshine Band&#8217;s <\/span>songs featured simple, repetitive lyrics paired with music that made you want to move.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 100%;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">The band was formed in <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1973<\/span> by <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Harry Wayne Casey<\/span> [KC] and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Richard Finch<\/span>, but it wasn&#8217;t until <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1975<\/span> and their hit <del><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">&#8220;Get Down Tonight&#8221;<\/span><\/del> that the band really took off. The album, their second, went <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">triple platinum<\/span> and the hits just kept on coming. Most people would be surprised to learn that their <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">last<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> #1 hit <\/span>was the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">first hit <\/span>of the<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> 80&#8217;s<\/span><del> [<span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">&#8220;Please Don&#8217;t Go&#8221;<\/span><\/del>]. The band broke up in <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1981<\/span>. In <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1991,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">KC<\/span> came out of retirement and reformed the band without <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Richard Finch<\/span>. The new band continues to tour with a full schedule. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 100%;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">I was fortunate enough to see <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">KC and the Sunshine Band<\/span> live a couple of times back in the glory days [<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1976<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1977<\/span>]. They definitely earned their money with the great show that they put on. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 100%;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">One last bit of trivia: Yesterday, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: arial; font-size: 100%;\"><a style=\"color: #cc0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.blogger.com\/profile\/04067177808320053382\" rel=\"nofollow\">Ivan G. Shreve, Jr.<\/a>, <\/span><span style=\";font-family: arial; font-size: 100%;\">commented that he really only liked a few disco songs with <span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">&#8220;Boogie, Oogie, Oogie&#8221;<\/span> being one<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">George McCrae&#8217;s <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 100%;\"><i style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rock Your Baby<\/span> <\/i><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">being another. Well, did you know that <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Harry Casey<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Richard Finch<\/span> wrote <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 100%;\"><i style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rock Your Baby<\/span><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 100%;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">? They did!
