\"\"<\/a>Let’s take a look at the results of last night’s fights:
\n<\/span>
\nC.B. Dollaway<\/span> looked like his was going to have a long night with Jesse Taylor<\/span> when three-quarters of the way through the first round<\/span> he pulled off a “Peruvian necktie”<\/span> forcing Taylor<\/span> to submit. I busted out laughing while watching C.B.<\/span> work Taylor<\/span> into the hold. I’d never seen the move before and didn’t realize what was happening. I don’t think that Taylor<\/span> did either. Then when it was announced that Dollaway<\/span> had one via “Peruvian necktie”<\/span> I started laughing again — the hold sounded like something that Gordon Solie<\/span> would come up with while announcing Professional Wrestling from Florida<\/span> in the early 70’s<\/span>! Hats off to Dollaway<\/span> for the win.<\/span>
\n<\/span> <\/span>
\n<\/span>Frankie Edgar<\/span> convincingly defeated Hermes Franca<\/span> by winning every round. for a unanimous decision<\/span>. Franca’s year off <\/span>must have really taken its toll. Except for a few brief bursts by Franca<\/span>, Edgar<\/span> controlled the entire fight and looked good in winning. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Brandon Vera<\/span> defeated Reese Andy<\/span> by unanimous decision in the most boring fight of the night. Andy<\/span> tried to pressure the much bigger Vera<\/span>, but was pretty ineffective. Vera<\/span> was just plain tired, but did enough to win. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Anderson Silva <\/span>defeated James Irvin<\/span> by TKO<\/span> at 1:01<\/span> of the first round<\/span>. Silva<\/span> landed a strong kick that knocked Irvin<\/span> to the mat and then followed with several unanswered shots to the head forcing the ref to call it. Silva<\/span> looked strong and confident while Irvin<\/span> seemed a bit stiff. Then again, who wouldn’t be when facing the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world<\/span>? Although Silva<\/span> says that his main priority is defending his middleweight title<\/span>, I don’t think that we’ve seen the last of Silva <\/span>at light heavyweight and he may even challenge for the title before to long. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> In the strangest decision<\/span> of the night: Kevin Burns<\/span> won via TKO<\/span> at 3:35<\/span> of round three <\/span>over Anthony Johnson<\/span>. Johnson<\/span> was well ahead in the fight and Burns <\/span>needed a knock out to win. Suddenly Burns<\/span> swung and appeared to connect with Johnson’s chin<\/span>. Johnson<\/span> spun around and went to the mat. Burns<\/span> hesitated and then dropped down reigning blows on Johnson<\/span> until the ref stepped in to call it. Johnson<\/span> immediately and repeatedly complained he’d been poked in the eye<\/span>. Replays showed that’s exactly what happened<\/span>. Burns<\/span> had jabbed with his left and his fingers went into Johnson’s eye<\/span> and Burns’ followup right <\/span>totally missed. Johnson<\/span> went down because of the pain to his jabbed eye. Add to this the fact that Burns<\/span> had poked Johnson<\/span> in the eye earlier in the match and was warned if it happened again he would lose a point or be disqualified and you have the makings of a DQ win<\/span> for Johnson<\/span>. Nope. Burns <\/span>was given the victory. Looks like Burns<\/span> unintentionally took a cue from either Rick “The Dirtiest Player in the Game” Flair<\/span> or Curly<\/span> of the Three Stooges<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>If you tuned out after the Silva<\/span> win, you missed the KO of the Night<\/span>. Rory Markham<\/span> was on his way to being knocked out by Brodie Farber<\/span>. We were still in the first round and the two had been exchanging punches like it was the final seconds of the final round that both needed for a victory. Farber<\/span> landed a couple of shots that rocked Markham<\/span>. As Markham<\/span> back peddled, Farber<\/span> began stalking him. Suddenly Markham<\/span> unleashed a head kick that knocked Farber<\/span> out cold!<\/span><\/p>\n
