If he&#8217;s not training a group of soldiers martial arts, choreographing knife fights for movies, doing conceptual drawings for films or <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Broadway<\/span>, working on comic book pages for publication, then he&#8217;s probably drawing something for his own entertainment. <\/p>\n<p>Quite often <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Raf<\/span> will sketch while listening to music, watching tv or whatever.  As the mood strikes him, he will file away a piece and begin working on another &#8212; only to return to the first piece later.  Working this way has led to some pieces that are truly amazing in their detail.  Just as wonderful are some of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Raf&#8217;s<\/span> quick sketches &#8212; you can see in just a few lines that everything is there.  I&#8217;ve been fortunate over the years to watch <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Raf<\/span> creating and the number of drawings that he&#8217;s completed is astounding.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully,<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> Raf<\/span> has decided to start publishing the best of these drawings in &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Isolated Incidents: The Art of Rafael Kayanan&#8221;<\/span> books.   <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;Volume I&#8221;<\/span> is available now and you can read more about it <a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/rafaelkayanan.blogspot.com\/2008\/06\/sketchbook.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">here<\/span><\/a>.
