Parker\u2019s Spenser<\/span> written as a western.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><\/p>\n<p>The Good: Robert B. Parker\u2018s <\/span>writing.  It\u2018s sparse and conversational, but I really like it.  The verbal interplay between <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Everett Hitch<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Virgil Cole<\/span>.  How<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> Hitch <\/span>becomes the town \u201cprotector.\u201d  What happens when the person you sided with turns out to be the \u201cbad guy.\u201d  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Cole\u2018s <\/span>reputation as a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">gunfighter<\/span>.  \u201cSometimes you got to kill one person early, to save killing four or five later.\u201d  When <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Cato<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rose<\/span> ride in.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Major Lujack<\/span> and his twenty versus <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Everett, Virgil, Cato<\/span> and<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> Rose<\/span>.   <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><\/p>\n<p>The Bad:<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Virgil Cole\u2018s<\/span> love for <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Allie<\/span>. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><\/p>\n<p>The Ugly:<\/span> What happens to someone blasted with an eight-gauge shotgun.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><\/p>\n<p>The Summary:<\/span>  <a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/039915504X\/002-4882510-2093642?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=zone_books-20&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=039915504X\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Resolution<\/span><\/a> is a direct sequel to <a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0425204324\/002-4882510-2093642?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=zone_books-20&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=0425204324\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Appaloosa<\/span><\/a>.  It\u2019s<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> Parker&#8217;s<\/span> third western.  His first was <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0425182894\/002-4882510-2093642?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=zone_books-20&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=0425182894\">Gunman\u2019s Rhapsody<\/a> <\/span>which took a look at the events involving <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday,<\/span> the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Clantons<\/span> and an incident at the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">OK Corral<\/span>.  You may have heard something of it.  At any rate, all three books get my recommendation.
