He had been in the hospital for treatment of pneumonia. His publicist, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Danica Smith<\/span> in her confirmation of his death &#8220;ask(ed) that his family&#8217;s privacy continue(s) to be respected.&#8221; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Bernie Mac&#8217;s death <\/span>is shocking enough, but as recently as yesterday there were reports saying that he was responding well to treatment and would be released from the hospital before too long.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">I first discovered <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Bernie Ma<\/span>c from his standup routines. He was funny and had a great personality. His standup led to work in dozens of movies and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;The Bernie Mac Show&#8221;<\/span> which ran for five years. He was currently in post production on a new tv show, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;Starting Under&#8221;<\/span> and had finished work on two movies set for release later this year and in 2009. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fans.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has just been reported that comedian Bernie Mac has died.
