{"id":1989,"date":"2008-09-05T18:07:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-05T22:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1989"},"modified":"2008-09-05T18:07:00","modified_gmt":"2008-09-05T22:07:00","slug":"ufc-88-predictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=1989","title":{"rendered":"UFC 88 Predictions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_aatuWUTj6ic\/SMGtuYHwFUI\/AAAAAAAABoE\/6nlhim4ys6E\/s1600-h\/z090508ufc88.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_aatuWUTj6ic\/SMGtuYHwFUI\/AAAAAAAABoE\/6nlhim4ys6E\/s400\/z090508ufc88.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242662453496517954\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><span style=\";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;\"  >Let&#8217;s take a look at tomorrow night&#8217;s <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">UFC 88 Pay-Per-View Card<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;\"  ><span style=\"font-size:10;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Nate Marquardt<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> <\/span>vs. Martin Kampmann:<\/span> This should be a good fight.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Kampmann <\/span>trains out of<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> Randy Couture&#8217;s camp<\/span>, and has a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">four fight win streak<\/span> running back to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">2006<\/span>.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Marquardt i<\/span>s a hard case whose only loses in the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">UFC<\/span> have been to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Anderson Silva <\/span>and a split decision lost to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Thales Leites <\/span>[who <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Kampmann<\/span> has beaten].  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Kampmann<\/span> may be a slight favorite, but <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">I&#8217;m picking Marquardt<\/span> to come out on top after a tough battle.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;\"  ><span style=\"font-size:10;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rousimar Palhares vs. Dan Henderson: <\/span> Six of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Palhares&#8217;s wins<\/span> have been <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">first round submissions<\/span> so you know he has mad BJJ skills.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Henderson<\/span> is a former <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">two time MMA champion<\/span>.  He clearly dominated <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Anderson Silva <\/span>for the entire first round when they fought, so you know he&#8217;s dangerous.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Henderson<\/span> has <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">more experience<\/span>, is <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">bigger, hits harder<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">needs the win<\/span> to get back into contention for a title shot.  Everything should point to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Henderson<\/span> winning.  Yet something says that&#8217;s not going to happen.  I<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8216;ll go for the upset and take Palhares<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;\"  ><span style=\"font-size:10;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rich Franklin vs. Matt Hamill: <\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rich Franklin<\/span> has <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">moved up in weight<\/span> after two devastating losses to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Anderson Silva<\/span>.  He&#8217;ll face <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Matt Hamill<\/span> who has <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">less experience<\/span>, but <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">better wrestling skills<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">freakish strength<\/span>.  How that will play out all depends on how well <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Franklin<\/span> can avoid being taken down.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Hamill <\/span>will want to force the fight to the mat and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Franklin<\/span> will look to knock out <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Hamill<\/span> as he shoots for takedowns.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">I think that experience will prevail and give the nod to Franklin.<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;\"  ><span style=\"font-size:10;\">   <\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;\"  ><span style=\"font-size:10;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Rashad Evans vs. Chuck Liddell: <\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> This should be interesting.  Up to this point, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Rashad Evans<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> has been able to rise to  every occassion and keep his <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >unbeaten streak<\/span> alive.  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Evans<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> is a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >skilled wrestler<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> who continues to improve other facets of his <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >MMA<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> game. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" > Liddell <\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">is the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" > Ice Man<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">.  The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Knockout King<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">.  Everyone knows that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Liddell<\/span> plans to keep the fight <span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >a standup slugfest<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> &#8212; he will want to stalk <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Evans<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> and throw bombs until one lands and puts him to sleep.  So where does that leave <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Evans<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">?  He has <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >two choices<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >neither are that great<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">.  He can try to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >beat Liddell at his own game<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> by slipping punches and landing his own.  I don&#8217;t see that happening for long.  Or he can try to t<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >ake Liddell to the mat <\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">and wear him down with his superior wrestling skills.  The only problem is that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Liddell is famous for avoiding takedowns<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">.  <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >My prediction: Liddell  by TKO.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;\"  ><span style=\"font-size:10;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Karo Parisyan <\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">was scheduled to fight on the card, but had to cancel due to a bad back.  Funny that he pulled out on the day before the fight.  I like <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Parisyan<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> and hope it is nothing more than a bad back, but after listening to <a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/mma\/blog\/mma_experts\/post\/Parisyan-off-the-card-does-our-convo-give-more?urn=mma,105857\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">this interview<\/span><\/a>, I have to wonder.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at tomorrow night&#8217;s UFC 88 Pay-Per-View Card.
