{"id":21135,"date":"2018-10-22T05:00:06","date_gmt":"2018-10-22T09:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=21135"},"modified":"2018-10-19T17:06:35","modified_gmt":"2018-10-19T21:06:35","slug":"the-13-most-disturbing-moments-in-stephen-king-adaptations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=21135","title":{"rendered":"The 13 Most Disturbing Moments in Stephen King Adaptations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2018\/z102218mostdisturbing_sking_moviemoments.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"297\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sharon Knolle and SyFy Wire present: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.syfy.com\/syfywire\/the-13-most-disturbing-moments-in-stephen-king-adaptations\">The 13 Most Disturbing Moments in Stephen King Adaptations<\/a>.\u00a0 You know how this game is played:\u00a0 Using just Knolle&#8217;s list, here are my top three (beware for spoilers follow) &#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>3.\u00a0 Salem&#8217;s Lot<\/em> (1979): \u201cLet me in!\u201d<br \/>\nIf you&#8217;ve seen the 79 adaptation of<em> Salem&#8217;s Lot<\/em>, then you know the scene.\u00a0 Our young hero, Mark, is in bed on a foggy night mourning the death of his friend Danny.\u00a0 Slowly out of the fog Danny floats up to Mark&#8217;s bedroom window and repeatedly scratches on the glass with an evil smile.\u00a0 Oh, and did I mention that the bedroom is on the second floor?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n2.\u00a0<em>Carrie<\/em> (1976): \u201cDo it!\u201d<br \/>\nI&#8217;m changing the game just a bit.\u00a0 Knolle picks the classic horror film<em> Carrie<\/em> and the pig killing scene.\u00a0 I agree with the choice of the movie, but I&#8217;ll take a different scene, if you don&#8217;t mind.\u00a0 See, I saw <em>Carrie<\/em> at a midnight movie during it&#8217;s first release.\u00a0 I had just turned 18 and was there with my girlfriend.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve always been one who jumped a lot during scary movies, but being a young man with a girl to impress, I had to stay cool&#8230; macho.\u00a0 I&#8217;m proud to say I made it through <em>Carrie<\/em> without embarrassing myself.\u00a0 We were at the last scene, Carrie&#8217;s friend was laying flowers on her grave and soon credits would roll.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Then Carrie&#8217;s hand suddenly shot out of the fresh grave and grabbed her friend&#8217;s wrist.\u00a0 I let out a scream (a manly scream I assure you) and nearly jumped out of my seat and into the row behind me.\u00a0 That disturbs me to this day.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1.\u00a0 <em>The Mist<\/em> (2007): That ending<br \/>\nThe ending of <em>The Mist<\/em> stayed with me for a long while.\u00a0 Although it was a bold choice, I didn&#8217;t like it on my first viewing as much as I&#8217;ve grown to.\u00a0 Now, I believe that the decision to go with the ending selected is one of the reasons the movie is so powerful.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">David, his young son, and three others have faced monsters and murderous people and survived.\u00a0 Their hope was to drive out of the mist and to safety.\u00a0 Sadly their car runs out of gas and they&#8217;re still in the mist surrounded by monsters.\u00a0 To leave the car will bring the monsters and certain death.\u00a0 To stay in the vehicle means a slow death by starvation.\u00a0 David has a gun with 4 bullets.\u00a0 The adults agree a fast death by bullet is the best alternative.\u00a0 David kills all four including his sleeping son, but has no bullet left for himself.\u00a0 He leaves the car expecting a painful death from a monster when he hears&#8230;
