{"id":21186,"date":"2018-11-05T05:00:08","date_gmt":"2018-11-05T09:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=21186"},"modified":"2018-11-05T06:08:30","modified_gmt":"2018-11-05T10:08:30","slug":"12-horror-movies-that-should-or-shouldnt-have-won-best-picture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=21186","title":{"rendered":"12 Horror Movies That Should (or Shouldn&#8217;t) Have Won Best Picture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2018\/z110518horror_oscars.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Scott Beggs and \/Film present <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slashfilm.com\/horror-movies-that-should-have-won-best-picture\/\">12 Horror Movies That Should (or Shouldn&#8217;t) Have Won Best Picture<\/a>.\u00a0 So, let&#8217;s look at Beggs&#8217; choices and the Best Picture Winner for that year and decide&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>The Phantom of the Opera<\/em> (1925) vs Nothing<br \/>\n<\/strong>As Beggs points out, the Academy Awards didn&#8217;t begin until 1927 so my decision is NO CHOICE.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>Frankenstein<\/em> (1931) vs\u00a0 <em>Cimarron<\/em><br \/>\n<\/strong>While I haven&#8217;t seen <em>Cimarron<\/em>, I have seen <em>Dracula<\/em> that was released the same year and <em>Dracula<\/em> would be my choice for the Horror Movie That Should Have Won.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>Psycho<\/em> (1960) vs <em>The Apartment<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><em>The Apartment<\/em> has been on my to be viewed list for quite a while.\u00a0 Since I haven&#8217;t seen it, I&#8217;ll abstain from a choice.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>Night of the Living Dead<\/strong><\/em> (1968) vs<strong><em> Oliver<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>I am a huge <em><strong>NOTLD<\/strong><\/em> fan, but part of the appeal is it is NOT a Hollywood, Oscar-winning type movie.\u00a0 I prefer <em><strong>NOTLD<\/strong><\/em> to <em><strong>Oliver<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 I even prefer\u00a0<em><strong>NOTLD<\/strong><\/em> to <strong><em>Rosemary&#8217;s Baby<\/em><\/strong> which also came out the same year.\u00a0 Still, I think my vote for the Best Picture would go to <em><strong>Oliver<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>The Exorcist<\/strong><\/em> (1973) vs <em><strong>The Sting<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em>I&#8217;ve seen and enjoyed both but I would have given the Best Picture Award to <em>The Exorcist<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>Jaws<\/strong><\/em> (1975) vs\u00a0<em><strong>One Flew Over The Cuckoo&#8217;s Nest<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em>Both are classics films but the my nod would have went to <em>Jaws.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>Alien<\/strong><\/em> (1979) vs <em><strong>Kramer vs Kramer<br \/>\n<\/strong>Alien<\/em> easily gets the win from me<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>The Shining<\/em><\/strong> (1980) vs<em><strong>\u00a0Ordinary People<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>The Shining<\/em><\/strong> would get my vote over\u00a0<em><strong>Ordinary People\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>but <strong><em>Raging Bull<\/em> <\/strong>should have been the real winner.
