{"id":22603,"date":"2019-09-16T05:00:45","date_gmt":"2019-09-16T09:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=22603"},"modified":"2019-09-15T15:50:53","modified_gmt":"2019-09-15T19:50:53","slug":"a-newly-edited-version-of-francis-ford-coppolas-the-cotton-club-is-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=22603","title":{"rendered":"A Newly Edited Version of Francis Ford Coppola&#8217;s &#8220;The Cotton Club&#8221; is Coming!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2019\/z091619cottonclub_encorecut.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"740\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I saw<em> The Cotton Club<\/em> on it&#8217;s initial theatrical release and at least once again several years later &#8212; both times I felt like the movie was good, but not as good as expected.\u00a0 Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and featuring an all-star cast that included Richard Gere, Gregory Hines, Diane Lane, Bob Hoskins, James Remar, Fred Gwynnne and Nicholas Cage, <em>The Cotton Club<\/em> should have been much better than it was.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now <em>The Cotton Club<\/em> will get another chance at greatness when <em>The Cotton Club Encore<\/em> is released.\u00a0 This newly edited version will contain&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230; an extended Gregory Hines &amp; Maurice Hines tap performance, Lonette McKee&#8217;s brilliant rendition of &#8220;Stormy Weather,&#8221; the originally envisioned ending, and more&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here&#8217;s the trailer below.\u00a0 You can catch <em>The Cotton Club Encore<\/em> in limited theatrical release in October or when it comes to Blu-Ray and DVD.\u00a0 One piece of trivia before the video: Did you know that Sly Stallone was originally up for the Richard Gere role, but turned it down?\u00a0 He was.
