Here are<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> my top 3<\/span> from <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">each genre<\/span>:<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/animation.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\" >Animation:<\/span><\/a><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The Lion King (mostly because of my memories of seeing how much my sons enjoyed it when we saw it on the big screen)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Toy Story (same reason as #1)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Beauty and the Best (same reason as #1)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/romanticcomedy.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\" >Romantic Comedies:<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Wow!  There are quite a few in the top 10 that I haven&#8217;t seen.  Makes it easy to pick my top 3:<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">When Harry Met Sally (mainly because of the classic deli scene &#8212; it still makes me chuckle)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Sleepless in Seattle<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Moonstruck (Cher and Nic Cage before he became an action star!)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/western.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\" >Western:<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">This is a much tougher category.  I love a good western.<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-family:arial;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The Searchers (The AFI got this one right!)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Stagecoach<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Ask me again next week and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Unforgiven, The Wild Bunch, Shane<\/span> or even <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Red River<\/span> could make the list at 2 or 3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/sports.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\" >Sports:<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Ah, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">my all time favorite movie<\/span> makes this list&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Rocky<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Raging Bull<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The Hustler<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Of course we all know that <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Sly &#8220;Rocky&#8221; Stallone<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Robert &#8220;Raging Bull&#8221; DeNiro <\/span>co-starred in <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Cop Land<\/span>!  [But did  we all know that in<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> 1976<\/span>, both <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Stallone <\/span>and  <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">DeNiro<\/span> duked it out for the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Best Actor Oscar<\/span>!]<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/mystery.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\" >Mystery:<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Another tough category&#8230;<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">North by Northwest<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The Maltese Falcon<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The Usual Suspects<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">With <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Rear Window, Vertigo<\/span> and<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> Chinatown<\/span> just missing out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/fantasy.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Fantasy:<\/span><\/a>  The <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">AFI <\/span>and I agree on the top film!  [It&#8217;s<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> my all-time #2 favorite movie<\/span>.]<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The Wizard of Oz<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">King Kong<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The Lord of the Rings<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/scifi.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Sci-Fi:<\/span><\/a>  A bunch of great films made the list, but where is<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> Aliens, The Matrix, Highlander<\/span>, etc?<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Terminator 2: Judgment Day<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Invasion of the Body Snatchers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Alien<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/gangster.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Gangster:<\/span><\/a> The <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">AFI <\/span>got it right again&#8230; at least with the number 1 slot!<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The Godfather<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The Godfather, Part II<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Pulp Fiction<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/crdrama.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Courtroom Drama:<\/span><\/a> Wow!  The <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">AFI <\/span>and I are in sync&#8230; at least for the top2.<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">To Kill a Mockingbird<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">12 Angry Men<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">A Few Good Men<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Compulsion would have been my third choice if it had made the AFI list.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: rgb(204, 0, 0);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afi.com\/10top10\/epic.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\" >Epic:<\/span><\/a><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol  style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Spartacus<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Ben-Hur<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Saving Private Ryan<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Lists like these make me want to pull down some of the classics and watch them again.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The American Film Institute has come up with their list of The 10 Greatest Films in 10 Classic Genres.
