\"\"<\/a>Empire Magazine<\/span> recently posted their list of the 500 Greatest Movies of All Time<\/span>. 500<\/span> is just too big a list to deal with… so, using just THEIR TOP 50<\/span>, I made a list of MY TOP 10 of EMPIRE’s TOP 50<\/span>. Without further adieu, here they are in alphabetical order:<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

  • Aliens<\/span> (James Cameron, 1986): Took the Alie<\/span>n concept and made it a franchise… and the best movie of the series.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Casablanca<\/span> (Michael Curtiz, 1942): Bogie<\/span> at his best.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Die Hard<\/span> (John McTiernan 1988)<\/span>: Redefined the action genre and turned Bruce Willis<\/span> into a star.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Dr. Strangelove<\/span> (Stanley Kubrick, 1964)<\/span>: “There’s no fighting in the war room!” — Need I say more?<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Godfather, The<\/span> (Francis Ford Coppola, 1972)<\/span>: Perhaps the best cast movie of all time.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Godfather Part II<\/span> (Francis Ford Coppola, 1974)<\/span>: One of the rare movies that is as good as the original… especially when the original is as good as The Godfather<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, The<\/span> (Sergio Leone, 1967)<\/span>: Classic title + classic theme + Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, Eli Wallach, and Sergio Leone = All Time Greatest Movie<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Matrix, The<\/span> (The Wachowski Brothers, 1999): Redefined the action genre. If only the sequels had been as good.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Pulp Fiction<\/span> (Quentin Tarantino, 1994)<\/span>: Made Tarantino a star… and rightly so.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Terminator 2: Judgement Day<\/span> (James Cameron, 1991): Like Godfather II<\/span> and Aliens<\/span>, a sequel that was as good as the original.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
