Rocky Film Tour<\/a>.&nbsp; Recently Mike posted several seldom seen LeRoy Neiman sketches from behind the scenes filming of Rocky movies.&nbsp; They were too good not to share.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2020\/z120620leroyneiman2_rocky_drago_art.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"404\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leroyneiman.com\/\">LeRoy Neiman<\/a> is considered the most famous sports artist in the world.&nbsp; His painting of Rocky used in <em>Rocky III<\/em> is without a doubt his most famous Rocky art, but <a href=\"https:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/?p=10292\">it isn&#8217;t the only Rocky art Neiman created<\/a>.&nbsp; In addition, to finished paintings, Neiman created preliminary sketches like the ones above of Drago slugging Rocky and Rocky in a defensive stance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2020\/z120620leroyneiman3_rocky_c1980.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"385\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I love this sketch that Neiman labeled, Face Hit Two, Rocky II, c. 1980.&nbsp; It was created using felt pen, acrylic, ink and pencil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2020\/z120620leroyneiman4_rocky_drago_art.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"401\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Neiman titled this Round XV, <em>Rocky IV<\/em> created in Vancouver, BC. May 1, 1985.<br>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2020\/z120620leroyneiman5_carlweathers.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"397\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As you can see above, even the movie call sheet was material for a quick sketch of Carl Weathers as Apollo Creed!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2020\/z120620leroyneiman6_photo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"347\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">LeRoy Neiman was always a dashing figure (and seldom seen without a cigar).&nbsp; Here he is seen creating more prelim sketches for <em>Rocky IV<\/em> art.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2020\/z120620leroyneiman7_drago_out.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The photo above was turned into a Neiman <em>Rocky IV<\/em> painting that is rarely seen!<br>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2020\/z120620leroyneiman8_rocky4_050185.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"345\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I love the amount of details that appear in this loose LeRoy Neiman prelim that he labeled: Sylvester Stallone in <em>Rocky IV<\/em>, May 1, 1985.&nbsp; felt, pen and acrylic on paper. 20 1\/4 x 26 in.&nbsp; 51.4 x 66 cm.<br>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2020\/z120620leroyneiman9_rocky2_031390.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"635\"><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Above is a Neiman sketch he titled, Sly, <em>Rocky II<\/em>, March 13, 1990.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks again to Mike Kunda for sharing these finds.
