End of the Year lists are fun and so I decided to compile a few of my own. I hope you enjoy them.<\/span><\/p>\n Movies<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n In 2020, I watched 453 movies. Most were streamed. I usually see a little over 200 movies per year so retirement and the pandemic helped increase my viewing. My favorite films released in 2020 included: Who’d have thought that two of my favorite films would star the Hemsworth brothers? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Books<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n In 2020, I read 34 books. I usually read about 20 – 24 per year so retirement and the pandemic also worked to increase my novel consumption. My favorites from this year included:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n More<\/u> Better<\/u> Deals<\/u><\/a> by Joe Lansdale: A crime noir that is perfection.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Hap<\/u> &<\/u> Leonard<\/u> novels (Jackrabbit<\/u> Smile<\/u><\/a>, Rusty<\/u> Puppies<\/u><\/a>, Savage Season<\/u><\/a>, Of Mice and Minestrone<\/u><\/a>, and Honky Tonk Samurai<\/u><\/a>) by Joe Lansdale: If you like your crime with a good bit of humor then give Hap & Leonard a go. They’ve never let me down.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Killfile<\/u><\/a> and Flashmob<\/u><\/a> by Christopher Farnsworth: A bodyguard with a unique ability. I used to complain that I wanted more Cade (President’s<\/u> Vampire<\/u>) tales from Farnsworth. Now I also want more John Smith yarns.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ruler<\/u><\/span><\/span> of<\/u><\/span><\/span> the<\/u><\/span><\/span> Night<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a> by David Morrell: The final of Morrell’s Thomas <\/span><\/span>De Quincey<\/span><\/span><\/span> (the Opium Eater) trilogy. If there was ever a series that when described to me I’d think I wouldn’t like, but after reading would actually love, it is this trilogy by Morrell.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Quinn Colson novels by Ace Atkins: I read 5 more this year (<\/span>The Redeemers<\/u><\/span><\/a>, <\/span>The Innocents<\/u><\/span><\/a>, <\/span>The Fallen<\/u><\/span><\/a>, <\/span>The Sinners<\/u><\/span><\/a> and <\/span>The Shameless<\/u><\/span><\/a>) and they all get my highest recommendation. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n My Most Popular Posts of the Year<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n I always find some surprises in the most popular posts from the year. The popularity of this post surprises me since it deals with a short story, but horror is always a favorite subject with many of our readers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 08. <\/span><\/span>Peter Stults\u2019 \u201c28 Days Later\u201d Starring Richard Burton<\/a>. I love that this remains a top post. Stults’ alternative movie posters are a blast. He chooses great stars to recast in cool movies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 07. <\/span><\/span>Jack Benny in \u201cCasablanca\u201d<\/a>. This one makes me smile. I love that it made the top ten.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 06. <\/span><\/span>Sly Stallone Starring in \u201cTerminator 2: Judgment Day\u201d Video!<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a> Sly Stallone makes the list!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 05. <\/span><\/span>TOP 10 MOST ICONIC HORROR MOVIE VILLAINS!<\/a> I told you horror posts are popular.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 04. <\/span><\/span>Dracula Through the Ages<\/a>. I wasn’t kidding. Horror posts are popular.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 03. <\/span><\/span>Jackie Daytona Commercial for \u201cLucky Brews Bar and Grill\u201d!<\/a> The popularity of this post surprised me. Sure, it has the horror connection, but mixed in is a great amount of humor. Add to that it is for an under-rated horror\/comedy (that I hope you are watching) and we get our third most popular post of the year!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 02. <\/span><\/span>Louis Meyers: Evidence He Was the Zodiac Killer<\/a>. Any post about the Zodiac Killer always get a lot of views. This one has even racked up the most comments.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 01. Schwarzenegger in \u201cKing Lear\u201d & Robin Williams in \u201cJack and the Beanstalk\u201d<\/a>. This posts gets more hits than any other post on the site. It’s not horror, it’s not about a real life killer or Sly Stallone, but it is our #1 post again this year.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n My All-Time Most Popular Posts<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n I thought it might be fun to close out with a look at our all-time most popular posts. Of course two of the most popular movie stars in the world together in a candid would make our most popular list.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 08. <\/span><\/span>TOP 10 MOST ICONIC HORROR MOVIE VILLAINS!<\/a> Our #5 most popular post for 2020 is our all-time #8 most popular post… and of course it’s horror.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 07. <\/span><\/span>Real Clown Or Horror-Movie Clown?<\/a> This is creepy. Normally I don’t have a problem with clowns, but some of those real clowns were downright scary.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 06. <\/span><\/span>Joel Osteen in Jacksonville<\/a> This has been popular one since it first appeared.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 05. <\/span><\/span>Steve Reeves as Superman<\/a> Of course Steve Reeves never got the chance to play the Man of Steel, but if he had, he would have made a good one.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
