{"id":25151,"date":"2021-02-23T05:45:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-23T09:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=25151"},"modified":"2026-01-01T09:51:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T14:51:13","slug":"the-dichotomy-philosophy-quiz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=25151","title":{"rendered":"The Dichotomy Philosophy Quiz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2021\/z022321materialism_spiritialism.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2021\/z022321materialism_spiritialism.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I recently took a Dichotomy Philosophy quiz and my results are posted above.\u00a0 You can see an easier to read version by clicking on the photo.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">My rating for <strong>Spiritualism<\/strong> (69.2%) was over twice as much as <strong>Materialism<\/strong> (30.8%), and while that is not a big surprise, my guess is that the leaning towards Spiritualism has increased with my age.\u00a0 I think that&#8217;s probably a pretty natural progression.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Altruism (79.5%) vs Egoism (20.5%) <\/strong>&#8211; I\u00a0was almost exactly four times higher on Altruism\u00a0over Egoism.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure that has also increased as I&#8217;ve gotten older.\u00a0 &#8220;The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.&#8221;\u00a0 &#8211; Spock<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Idealism (54.7%) vs Pragmatism (45.3%)<\/strong> resulted in my second closest ratings.\u00a0 This doesn&#8217;t surprise me.\u00a0 I&#8217;m a believer in doing things for the right reason and I am also pretty pragmatic.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Hedonism (27.7%) vs Asceticism (72.3%)<\/strong> &#8211; This one is perhaps the most surprising.\u00a0 I see nothing wrong with doing things that are pleasurable, legal and don&#8217;t hurt others.\u00a0 Perhaps the scores are due to the fact that I am a big believer that to just go after instant gratification can lead to problems.\u00a0 I have put off owning things or spending money now so that I can insure a better future.\u00a0 The cool thing is since I did that in the past, the future is now.\u00a0 ; )<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Nihilism (30.8%) vs Moralism (69.2)<\/strong> &#8211; This one would create some interesting debates.\u00a0 We know that meaning and morality can have different perspectives depending on the culture or situation.\u00a0 But from my perspective there are certain things that we as a society should all agree on.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Rationalism (49.1%) vs Romanticism (50.9%)<\/strong> &#8211; These two had the closest scores.\u00a0 Truthfully, I surprised that Rationalism (intellect and logic) didn&#8217;t score higher.\u00a0 Again, it probably would have with a younger me.\u00a0 I definitely don&#8217;t discount Romanticism (passions and the heart), and they definitely influence decisions and make life better.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Skepticism (22.9%) vs Absolutism (77.1%)<\/strong> &#8211;
