Man, I love Halloween<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we get closer to the big night, I find myself drawn to scary books and movies. For some reason even more so this year. Maybe it’s because there are so many good ones available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I just finished reading\u00a0Steve Niles<\/strong>‘\u00a0Dial M for Monster<\/a><\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0Dial M<\/strong>\u00a0is a book of short stories featuring his monster hunter,\u00a0Cal McDonald<\/strong>. You’ve heard me praise\u00a0Niles<\/strong>‘ work before and this book is no exception. I love everything about the world\u00a0Niles\u00a0<\/strong>has created for\u00a0Cal<\/strong>\u00a0[and I’m especially glad I can safely visit without fear of vampires, werewolves, fiends or other creatures coming after me!]. I’d suggest that you start with\u00a0Guns, Drugs and Monsters<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0[the first novel in the series] and then follow it up with\u00a0Savage Membrane<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0[the second].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’d like to get a taste of\u00a0Niles<\/strong>‘ work before commiting to a novel, then by all means check out\u00a030 Days of Night<\/a><\/strong>. This award winning comic series [with art by the extremely talented\u00a0Ben Templesmith<\/strong>] is being developed into a feature film produced by none other than\u00a0Sam Raimi<\/strong>! Why wait for the film? The graphic novel is available now and well worth every penny!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changing gears just a bit… on Tuesday, one of my two favorite movies so far this year, becomes available! That’s right 28 Days Later<\/a><\/strong> is available Tuesday! Man, I can’t wait!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’ve read this far, then you’re probably a real horror fan. You probably already know that a\u00a0Dawn of the Dead<\/strong>\u00a0remake starring\u00a0Ving Rhames<\/strong>\u00a0is coming out next March. But did you know that\u00a0the trailer<\/a>\u00a0is available now? At first I didn’t think that a re-make of\u00a0Dawn of the Dead<\/strong>\u00a0was a good idea since the original trilogy [Night of the Living Dead<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Dawn of the Dead<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0Day of the Dead<\/a><\/strong>] by\u00a0George Romero<\/strong>\u00a0are considered cult classics. But I did like\u00a0the remake of\u00a0Night of the Living Dead<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0]… and\u00a0Ving Rhames<\/strong>\u00a0is starring… so why not?
