{"id":27762,"date":"2021-06-14T07:18:24","date_gmt":"2021-06-14T11:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=27762"},"modified":"2021-06-14T07:19:22","modified_gmt":"2021-06-14T11:19:22","slug":"burger-chef-reasons-we-miss-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=27762","title":{"rendered":"Burger Chef: Reasons We Miss You!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2021\/z061421burgercheff_trivia.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you&#8217;re old enough to remember Burger Chef restaurants, you probably miss them.\u00a0 I used to be surprised at how much love the fast food joints had built up with those that ate there.\u00a0 The first Burger Chef opened in 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana.\u00a0 By their peak year in 1973, there were over 1,000 locations throughout the US and Canada.\u00a0 Less than 15 years later the last Burger Chef closed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The fine folks at MeTV posted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metv.com\/lists\/10-reasons-we-really-miss-burger-chef-restaurants\">10 Reasons We Really Miss Burger Chef Restaurants<\/a>.\u00a0 Before you click over, here are thoughts on three of my favorites&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong> The Works Bar.<\/strong>\u00a0 Burger Chef was the first to come up with the idea of a works bar.\u00a0 It contained all the items you could want for your sandwich &#8211; lettuce, pickles, onion, tomato, as well as condiments.\u00a0 This allowed customers to customize to perfection.\u00a0 We had customers who would come in, order a sandwich and drink then would go to the works bar and make a salad using the items for sandwiches.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Star Wars Posters<\/strong>.\u00a0 Burger Chef was ahead of the other fast food joints when they began including Star Wars posters with the purchase of a meal.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t know <a href=\"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=9708\">my Mike Kott\/Burger Chef\/Star Wars posters story<\/a>, it&#8217;s worth a click over.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Big Shef (and Fun Meals).<\/strong>\u00a0 The Big Shef was Burger Chef&#8217;s signature sandwich.\u00a0 It was basically a Big Mac without sesame seeds, pickles, onions or special sauce (Thousand Island dressing).\u00a0 What was their true claim to fame were Fun Meals. geared towards kids. Each Funmeal came with a sandwich, small fries, small drink and a toy!
