{"id":28002,"date":"2021-07-30T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=28002"},"modified":"2021-07-29T10:05:41","modified_gmt":"2021-07-29T14:05:41","slug":"the-best-american-neo-noir-films","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=28002","title":{"rendered":"The Best American Neo-Noir Films!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2021\/z073021essentail_neonoirfilms.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Swapnil Dhruv Bose put together a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/faroutmagazine.co.uk\/10-essential-american-neo-noir-films\/\">10 Essential Films from the American Neo-Noir Movement<\/a>.\u00a0 The list is a good one.\u00a0 Here are my thoughts on each of the films and a few others that would have made my list&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Point Blank<\/em> (John Boorman \u2013 1967):\u00a0 I&#8217;m a Lee Marvin fan and I&#8217;ve liked <em>Point Blank<\/em> more with each viewing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Long Goodbye<\/em> (Robert Altman \u2013 1973): While I&#8217;m a Raymond Chandler fan, I didn&#8217;t like this adaption of his novel. Part of the problem was that I didn&#8217;t think Elliot Gould was a good choice to play Chandler.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Chinatown<\/em> (Roman Polanski \u2013 1974): <em>Chinatown<\/em> is a classic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Conversation<\/em> (Francis Ford Coppola \u2013 I&#8217;ve never watched <em>The Conversation<\/em> which is a surprise even to me because it is held in such high regard and I&#8217;m a Coppola fan. Perhaps this will be the year I watch it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Taxi Driver<\/em> (Martin Scorsese \u2013 1976): I like Scorsese. I like Deniro. I didn&#8217;t like <em>Taxi Driver<\/em>. I thought it was slow and excessively violent. Perhaps another viewing is in order.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Blade Runner<\/em> (Ridley Scott \u2013 1982): I&#8217;ve enjoyed every version of <em>Blade Runner.<\/em> (Although I wasn&#8217;t a huge fan of the sequel.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Blue Velvet<\/em> (David Lynch \u2013 1986): I didn&#8217;t care for <em>Blue Velvet<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pulp Fiction<\/em> (Quentin Tarantino \u2013 1994): I loved <em>Pulp Fiction<\/em>. It remains one of Tarantino&#8217;s best films.<\/p>\n<p><em>L.A. Confidential<\/em> (Curtis Hanson \u2013 1997): <em>L.A. Confidential<\/em> is perhaps the best film on this list. I love it.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Big Lebowski<\/em> (Coen Brothers \u2013 1998): I&#8217;ve never seen it. I know, I know.
