Margaret David at \/Film came up with her list of 20 Movies About Aliens That You Definitely Need To Watch<\/a>.\u00a0 Using just her list, here are my top five (in alphabetical order) and my thoughts on each.<\/p>\n

10 Cloverfield Lane<\/em><\/strong>: I was glad to see 10 Cloverfield Lane<\/em> make the list.\u00a0 While it’s not the first movie to come to mind when most folks think of “alien” movies, it surely qualifies.\u00a0 I love how it starts as one thing, turns into another and then ends up as a definite alien movie.\u00a0 I need to see it again!<\/p>\n

Alien Nation<\/em><\/strong>:\u00a0 Alien Nation<\/em> is under-rated. If you haven’t seen it you should.\u00a0 This is another one I need to rewatch.<\/p>\n

Contact<\/em><\/strong>:\u00a0 I’m a big fan!\u00a0 Contact<\/em> is another under-rated gem.\u00a0 Plus Jodie Foster!<\/p>\n

They Live<\/em><\/strong>: John Carpenter mixes a social message with alien overlords starring Roddy Piper and it works!<\/p>\n

Thing, The<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/em>John Carpenter dared to remake the classic The Thing from Another World<\/em> and in the process created what some consider his best movie.\u00a0 I saw The Thing<\/em> in a nearly empty theater on it’s initial theatrical release.\u00a0 The Thing<\/em> was not highly thought of at the time by most fans and critics, but has gone on to develop a following and is considered a classic in the genre.<\/p>\n
