{"id":2816,"date":"2009-02-16T14:23:45","date_gmt":"2009-02-16T18:23:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=2816"},"modified":"2014-12-29T12:12:12","modified_gmt":"2014-12-29T16:12:12","slug":"the-wrestler-is-a-winner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=2816","title":{"rendered":"Z-View: &#8220;The Wrestler&#8221; is a Winner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2009\/z021609wrestler.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"284\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Pitch:<\/strong> <strong>\u201cRocky\u201d<\/strong> meets <strong>Professional Wrestling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Overview:<\/strong> <strong>Randy \u201cThe Ram\u201d Robinson<\/strong> is a washed up <strong>professional wrestler <\/strong>hoping for one last shot at the big time, a romance with an <strong>aging stripper<\/strong> and a reconciliation with his college-age <strong>daughter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Good:<\/strong> <strong>Mickey Rourke.\u00a0 Maresia Tomei.<\/strong> Both received well-deserved <strong>Oscar<\/strong> nominations.\u00a0 And let\u2019s not forget writer <strong>Robert Siegel<\/strong> and director <strong>Darren Aronofsky<\/strong>.\u00a0 The behind-the-scenes before and after the matches stuff.\u00a0 The movie feels real.\u00a0 There is no sugar-coating motivations or easily resolved situations.\u00a0 Did I mention how good <strong>Rourke <\/strong>and<strong> Tomei<\/strong> are?<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Bad:<\/strong> The <strong>\u201chardcore\u201d<\/strong> match.\u00a0 <strong>Robinson\u2019s relationship<\/strong> with his daughter.\u00a0 Getting old.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Ugly:<\/strong> Did I mention the <strong>\u201chardcore\u201d <\/strong>match?<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Summary:<\/strong> I went in to see <strong>\u201cThe Wrestler\u201d<\/strong> expecting a lot.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t disappointed.\u00a0 It deserves all the <strong>honors<\/strong> it is getting thanks to the efforts of<strong> Rourke, Tomei, Siegel<\/strong> and <strong>Aronofsky<\/strong>.\u00a0 I look forward to watching this again when it\u2019s in my collection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pitch: \u201cRocky\u201d meets Professional Wrestling.
