{"id":28298,"date":"2021-10-09T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-09T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=28298"},"modified":"2021-10-08T16:14:59","modified_gmt":"2021-10-08T20:14:59","slug":"the-all-time-best-vampire-movies-that-dont-star-dracula","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=28298","title":{"rendered":"The All-Time Best Vampire Movies (That Don&#8217;t Star Dracula)!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2021\/z100921nondracula_vampire.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><br \/>\nAnna Swanson at Film School Rejects posted her list of the <a href=\"https:\/\/filmschoolrejects.com\/best-vampire-movies-no-dracula\/2\/\">10 Best Vampire Movies That Don\u2019t Star Dracula<\/a>.&nbsp; Her list is a good one.&nbsp; As I thought about my choices for the top 5 (using just her list) I realized that if you ask me again tomorrow the order might change.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As of today, here are my top five and a three others that didn&#8217;t make Swanson&#8217;s top ten but would have made mine&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>30 Days of Night<\/em> (2007)<\/strong> is an under-rated horror film.&nbsp; I love the slow burn set-up. Strange things happen but no one knows what is coming.&nbsp; When the vampire attacks begin, the overhead shot of the town in chaos is worth the price of admission.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Interview with the Vampire<\/em> (1994)<\/strong> has grown on me with each new viewing.&nbsp; I still haven&#8217;t read the novel but if it is as good as the movie, I shouldn&#8217;t put it off.&nbsp; Oh, and has there ever been another vampire movie with the star power of <em><strong>Interview with a Vampire<\/strong><\/em>?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Near Dark<\/em> (1987).<\/strong>&nbsp; A modern western\/horror\/love story?&nbsp; Yep and it works.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>What We Do in the Shadows<\/em> (2014).<\/strong>&nbsp; A mockumentary about vampire roommates and their day to day (un)life.&nbsp; Sounds terrible, but is truly funny.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Fright Night<\/em> (1985)<\/strong> walks the line as a horror movie that is funny or a comedy that is scary.&nbsp; Either way it works.<\/p>\n<p>+++<\/p>\n<p>Here are three movies that didn&#8217;t make Swanson&#8217;s list but would have made mine&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Salem&#8217;s Lot<\/em> (1979).<\/strong>&nbsp; A tv movie that still works.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>From Dusk Till Dawn<\/em> (1996).&nbsp;<\/strong> Any time you can have a crime and horror film mash-up, count me in.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Blade II<\/em> (2002).<\/strong>&nbsp; Man, I love this film so much I would have put it in the #1 spot.&nbsp; &nbsp;(Which is even more surprising since I didn&#8217;t care for <em>Blade<\/em>!)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anna Swanson at Film School Rejects posted her list of the 10 Best Vampire Movies That Don\u2019t Star Dracula.&nbsp; Her<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":912,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[53,54,65],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-28298","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-horror","category-movies","category-trivia"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28298","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/912"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=28298"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28298\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":28317,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28298\/revisions\/28317"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=28298"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=28298"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=28298"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
