{"id":28881,"date":"2022-02-02T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-02T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=28881"},"modified":"2022-01-26T12:32:50","modified_gmt":"2022-01-26T17:32:50","slug":"humphrey-bogarts-best-films","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=28881","title":{"rendered":"Humphrey Bogart&#8217;s Best Films!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2022\/z020222bogart_best.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Humphrey Bogart is one of the world&#8217;s most famous actors.&nbsp; Bogart appeared in over 80 films, was nominated for 3 Best Actor Oscars (winning one).&nbsp; Bogart wasn&#8217;t your typical leading man.&nbsp; He wasn&#8217;t particularly tall (5&#8217;8&#8243;), or muscular and he didn&#8217;t have classical good looks.&nbsp; Yet, the ladies loved him and he was considered a man&#8217;s man.&nbsp; On screen Bogart held your attention.&nbsp; Although he was just 57 when he died, Bogart left us with many great films.&nbsp; Here are my five favorites&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1.&nbsp; <em>Casablanca&nbsp; <\/em>(1942): Many consider <em>Casablanca<\/em> to be not only Bogart&#8217;s best film, but the best film of all time.&nbsp; It is a classic.&nbsp; I never tire of watching <em>Casablanca<\/em> and had this been the only film on his resume, it would have still made him famous.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2.&nbsp; <em>Key Largo&nbsp; <\/em>(1948):&nbsp; has grown on me over the years.&nbsp; I&#8217;ve always loved it, but <em>Key Largo<\/em> gets better with each new viewing.&nbsp; Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Edward G. Robinson and Lionel Barrymore round out the cast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">3.&nbsp; <em>The Maltese Falcon&nbsp; <\/em>(1941): Bogart plays PI, Sam Spade.&nbsp; The film is based on Dashiell Hammett&#8217;s classic novel, with a screenplay and direction by John Huston (his first time directing).&nbsp; <em>The Maltese Falcon<\/em> features an all-star cast; joining Bogart are Mary Astor, Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet, Ward Bond and Elisha Cook, Jr.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>4.&nbsp; The Big Sleep <\/em>(1946):&nbsp; Bogart plays PI, Phillip Marlowe.&nbsp; Howard Hawks directs this classic that also stars Lauren Bacall and Martha Vickers.&nbsp; Dorothy Malone has a small role, but what an impact she makes!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">5.&nbsp; &nbsp;<em>To Have and Have Not<\/em> (1944):&nbsp; Howard Hawks again directs Bogart and Bacall who are joined by Walter Brennan in an adaptation of Ernest Hemmingway&#8217;s classic novel.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bogart made several other films that almost made my top five:&nbsp; <em>In a Lonely Place, The Caine Mutiny, The African Queen, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre<\/em> and<em> The Harder They Fall<\/em> are also all excellent films.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Humphrey Bogart is one of the world&#8217;s most famous actors.&nbsp; Bogart appeared in over 80 films, was nominated for 3<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":912,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[17,54],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-28881","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-celebs","category-movies"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28881","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/912"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=28881"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28881\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":28884,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28881\/revisions\/28884"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=28881"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=28881"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=28881"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
