The Pitch: Alan Moore<\/strong> and Dave Gibbon’s classic comic story<\/strong> brought to life on the big screen by Zack Snyder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Overview: <\/strong>It’s 1985<\/strong>… Richard Nixon<\/strong> is President… superheroes<\/strong> are real… and someone is killing them off.<\/p>\n

The Good:<\/strong> The story was considered unadaptable<\/strong> to film<\/strong>, but this is near perfect<\/strong>.\u00a0 The direction<\/strong> is spot on.\u00a0 The sets<\/strong>, the costumes<\/strong>, the special effects<\/strong>, and the casting<\/strong> are also on point.\u00a0 Jeffrey Dean Morgan<\/strong> [The Comedian<\/strong>] and Jackie Earle Haley<\/strong> [Rorschach<\/strong>] own every scene they are in.\u00a0 Matt Frewer<\/strong> as Molach<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Night Owl’s flying machine<\/strong>.\u00a0 The more I think about the movie, the more I like it.\u00a0 Rorscach’s two classic lines <\/strong>while being threatened in prison.\u00a0 Dr. Manhattan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Bad:<\/strong> At times Matthew Goode<\/strong> as Ozymandias <\/strong>reminded of Dana Carvey <\/strong>from Saturday Night Live<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Ugly:<\/strong> Compound fractures in some of the fight scenes.\u00a0 Blocking the prison cell door.<\/p>\n

The Summary:<\/strong> Although I read the Alan Moore\/Dave Gibbons Watchmen<\/strong> comic mini-series [it wasn’t published as a graphic novel until later] when it was first released, I wasn’t as taken with it as most.\u00a0 I enjoyed it.\u00a0 I liked the movie better than the source material. [Quit booing, it’s just my opinion.]\u00a0 The story changes didn’t bother me a bit… in fact they may have made the movie better.<\/p>\n

I wish that Alan Moore<\/strong> didn’t distance himself from the project.\u00a0 It’d be interesting to hear his thoughts.\u00a0 Dave Gibbons<\/strong> praised the film.\u00a0 Who am I to agrue with Dave<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

I can’t wait to see the movie again.\u00a0 Who knows, after that I may even want to pull the graphic novel off the shelf and reread it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
