They don’t do anything on or off a job that would draw attention.\u00a0 They keep a low profile.\u00a0 Things have worked out well for the three… until recently.\u00a0 With the country in an economic downturn, folks aren’t buying their goods.\u00a0 Jake and his crew need money, and when a great opportunity falls into their lap, they agree to break their rules.\u00a0 Just one time… for a big drug deal.<\/p>\n The drug deal goes sideways and the crew’s money is taken. Getting the cash back will mean going up against a motorcycle gang.\u00a0 Then Detective Faulkner makes it clear he has Jake in his sights again.\u00a0 Jake fears one of his crew might have turned rat.\u00a0 Any one of these things would be trouble enough.\u00a0 Could it get any worse?<\/p>\n And that’s when Helen returns with a simple favor…<\/p>\n At<\/span> Their<\/span> Own<\/span> Game<\/span> is one of my all-time favorite books.\u00a0 It totally resonated with me.\u00a0 Zafiro has created realistic characters and placed them in a story that moves.\u00a0 The plot takes unexpected twists while still following the tropes expected in a classic noir.\u00a0 The dialogue is realistic.\u00a0 I flew through the story both wanting to see how it would end and not wanting it to end.\u00a0 At<\/span> Their<\/span> Own<\/span> Game<\/span> is a novel that I will want to read again.\u00a0 It’s that good.<\/p>\n At<\/span> Their<\/span> Own<\/span> Game<\/span> rates 5 of 5 stars.<\/p>\n At<\/span> Their<\/span> Own<\/span> Game<\/span> Trade Paperback<\/a><\/p>\n
