{"id":31192,"date":"2022-12-06T08:45:30","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T13:45:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=31192"},"modified":"2022-12-06T08:45:30","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T13:45:30","slug":"rip-kirstie-alley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=31192","title":{"rendered":"RIP: Kirstie Alley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2022\/z120622rip_kirstie_alley.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"455\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kirstie Alley, the actress best known for her award-winning role as Rebecca Howe on <em>Cheers<\/em>, died yesterday at the age of 71.\u00a0 The cause of death was cancer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ms. Alley was born in Wichita, Kansas.\u00a0 She attended Kansas State University, before dropping out in her sophomore year.\u00a0 Kirstie Alley then moved to Los Angeles to further her studies in Scientology.\u00a0 At that time she planned on a career as an interior designer.\u00a0 After appearing as a contestant on two game shows (Match Game, Password Plus) she considered a career change.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kirstie Alley&#8217;s first two roles were small.\u00a0 She appeared uncredited as a handmaiden on the short-lived television series <em>Quark<\/em>.\u00a0 This was followed by a co-starring role in <em>One More Chance<\/em>, a student film that was expanded into a feature length film.\u00a0 Ms. Alley&#8217;s big break came when she was cast in <em>Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan<\/em>.\u00a0 Although Kirstie Alley declined to return for Star Trek sequels, she continued acting on television and feature films for the rest of her career.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of Kirstie Alley&#8217;s television appearances include: <em>The Love Boat; Masquerade<\/em> (13 episodes);<em> A Bunny&#8217;s Tale; North and South: Book 1<\/em> (6 spisodes); <em>North and South: Book 2<\/em> (6 episodes); <em>The Hitchhiker<\/em> (2 episodes); <em>Cheers<\/em> (148 episodes); <em>Wings; The Last Don<\/em> (3 episodes); <em>The Last Don II<\/em> (2 episodes); <em>Veronica&#8217;s Closet<\/em> (67 episodes); <em>Fat Actress<\/em> (7 episodes); <em>The King of Queens; Dancing with the Stars (34 episodes)<\/em>\u00a0and <em>Kirstie<\/em> (12 episodes).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of Kirstie Alley&#8217;s feature film appearances include: <em>Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan; Runaway; Shoot to Kill; Look Who&#8217;s Talking; Look Who&#8217;s Talking Too; Look Who&#8217;s Talking Now<\/em> and<em> Village of the Damned;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Awards won: 1991 <em>Golden Globe<\/em> for <em>Best Actress in a Television Series \u2013 Comedy or Musical<\/em>; 1991 <em>People&#8217;s Choice<\/em> for <em>Favorite Female Television Performer<\/em>; 1998 <em>People&#8217;s Choice<\/em> for <em>Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series<\/em>; 1991<em> Primetime Emmy<\/em> for <em>Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series<\/em>;
