Interview with a Vampire<\/a>.<\/p>\nIn 1910, Louis de Pointe du Lac (Anderson) is a successful black business man.\u00a0 He owns several brothels and rubs shoulders with many of the city’s civic leaders.\u00a0 Louis meets and befriends\u00a0 Lestat de Lioncourt (Reid).\u00a0 Lestat is handsome, charismatic and somewhat mysterious.\u00a0 He’s also a vampire! As Louis and Lestat spend time together, their friendship grows.\u00a0 Ultimately, Lestat turns Louis into a vampire.<\/p>\n
Louis is shocked and sickened by what he’s become.\u00a0 He vows to never see Lestat again… but that doesn’t last.\u00a0 Lestat teaches Louis how to hunt, the things that will kill a vampire, and how to blend in among humans.\u00a0 Louis makes Lestat agree to some concessions.\u00a0 They will prey only on the worst humans.\u00a0 Lestat agrees, but he’s a remorseless killer.\u00a0 The promise is a sham. There is more that Lestat keeps secret.<\/p>\n
When a fire breaks out in a poor part of town, Louis pulls Claudia (Bass), a young girl, from a burning building.\u00a0 Claudia is on the verge of death.\u00a0 Louis saves Claudia by turning her.\u00a0 Louis and Lestat become her “uncles” and the three vampires live together.<\/p>\n
Over time Claudia sees the differences between Louis and Lestat. Louis is compassionate and caring.\u00a0 Lestat is self-centered and heartless.\u00a0 A rift forms.\u00a0 Louis and Lestat are already having issues with their toxic relationship.\u00a0 Problems increase with Claudia’s need for independence. Plus rumors are growing about strange goings on in Louis and Lestat’s mansion…<\/p>\n
All of this is relayed in flashbacks as Louis is interviewed by Daniel Malloy (Bogosian), a cynical writer planning a book on Louis’ life.<\/p>\n
Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\nInterview with the Vampire<\/em> Season 1 is a tour de force.\u00a0 Well written with extremely well cast actors joined by top notch direction results in a wonderful viewing experience.<\/p>\nJacob Anderson (Louis) and Sam Reid (Lestat) have chemistry.\u00a0 I knew Anderson from his impressive role on Game of Thrones<\/em>.\u00a0 I had seen Reid a decade ago in the mini-series Hatfields & McCoys<\/em>, but didn’t remember him until looking up his credits.\u00a0 Reid makes an impact here! Baily Bass as Claudia is an actress to watch.\u00a0 I’d never seen her before, but imagine she’ll be a household name soon.\u00a0 She’s that talented.\u00a0 Eric Bogosian is great as the cynical writer.\u00a0 I’ve never been a big fan of Bogosian’s but he’s perfect here.<\/p>\nInterview with a Vampire<\/em> isn’t your typical vampire tale.\u00a0 These vampires have more desires than just drinking blood. It’s interesting how different aspects of a vampire’s life are explored.\u00a0 First there’s the loneliness. A vampire is a rare creature that if discovered by humans would be killed.\u00a0 All of a vampire’s relationships change.\u00a0 Family and friends know something is different.\u00a0 Vampires never age.\u00a0 They are rarely seen during the day.\u00a0 How\u00a0 to get rid of the bodies they feed on?\u00a0 How long before missing people are linked to the vampire?<\/p>\nInterview with a Vampire<\/em> Season 1, like Anne Rice’s novel, doesn’t shy away from the homosexual aspects of Louis and Lestat’s relationship.\u00a0 Nothing graphic is shown.\u00a0 Louis was a closeted homosexual in 1910.\u00a0 Lestat was uninhibited and took whatever he desired whether it was a woman or a man.\u00a0 Who’d think that a toxic vampire relationship would make great television.<\/p>\nI loved every episode of Interview with a Vampire<\/em> Season 1.\u00a0 There’s a lot of ground to cover between 1910 and 2022.\u00a0 While many questions were an answered even more were not.\u00a0 I look forward to Season 2.<\/p>\nInterview with the Vampire <\/em><\/strong><\/em>Season 1 <\/strong>earns 5 of 5 stars.<\/span><\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/logo\/zview_a.png\")
