{"id":31583,"date":"2023-01-20T10:58:41","date_gmt":"2023-01-20T15:58:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=31583"},"modified":"2023-01-20T10:58:41","modified_gmt":"2023-01-20T15:58:41","slug":"rip-david-crosby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=31583","title":{"rendered":"RIP: David Crosby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2023\/z012023rip_davidcrosby.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"468\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">David Crosby, the two-time <em>Rock and Roll Hall of Famer<\/em>, died on January 18, 2023, after a long illness.\u00a0 He was 81.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Crosby was inducted into the <em>Rock and Roll Hall of Fame<\/em> for his work with the <em>Byrds<\/em> and <em>Crosby, Stills &amp; Nash<\/em>.\u00a0 His music is on five of<em> Rolling Stone&#8217;s<\/em> list of <em>The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">David Crosby dropped out of college to pursue a career in music.\u00a0 Before joining the <em>Byrds<\/em>, Mr. Crosby performed with\u00a0 Terry Callier and later with <em>Les Baxter&#8217;s Balladeers<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1964, David Crosby joined the <em>Byrds<\/em> and a year later they had their first #1 hit with <em>Mr. Tambourine Man<\/em>.\u00a0 This was followed up by <em>Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season)<\/em>\u00a0which also peaked at #1,\u00a0 David Crosby stayed with the <em>Byrds<\/em> until 1967.\u00a0 In 1973, he reteamed with them for the album <em>Byrds<\/em> which he also produced.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1968, David Crosby met Stephen Stills and they began playing together informally.\u00a0 Graham Nash of <em>The Hollies<\/em> joined the duo and soon they formed <em>Cosby, Stills and Nash<\/em>.\u00a0 When the group played at Woodstock, it was only their second live performance!\u00a0 Their first album, <em>Crosby, Stills &amp; Nash<\/em> was a hit.\u00a0 In 1969, Neil Young joined the group which retitled itself as <em>Crosby, Stills, Nash &amp; Young<\/em>.\u00a0 Throughout the rest of his career, David Crosby would play with variations of <em>CSN&amp;Y<\/em>, perform solo, as well as work as a session musician providing background vocals for folks like Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Carole King, Elton John and Phil Collins (just to name a few). In 1996, Mr. Crosby created <em>CPR<\/em>, a band consisting of himself, Jeff Pevar, and Crosby&#8217;s son, James Raymond.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of David Crosby&#8217;s hits include: <em>Turn! Turn! Turn!
